It shouldn't be a problem, because anybody in thier right mind  wouldn't take I-25 through Denver to get to Golden! Go up the back side of the mountian through Colorado Springs if thats your planned route. We're going up Hwy 285 the whole way :yahoo:

Yep, you'll want to avoid I-70 and I-25 through Denver during rush hour in the morning and evening for sure. Since we are on the west side, we should not have any issues. As for construction on I-25, the TREX project on I-25 was completed about a year ago and you can generally make it through that area pretty fast except during rush hour -- always a lot of traffic however.

One should always try to avoid large pot-holes in all roads, especially those that are 40 feet across and 16 feet deep!!!

Somewhat on-topic, at least relative to traffic tie-ups in Denver.

Spent some time there a few years back...traffic was a frickin' NIGHTMARE!

But I gotta ask for a comparison...for those who have experienced both Denver and L.A. traffic, which is worse?

The time I spent in Denver was thoroughly hateful, traffice-wise, so I'm curious how it compares to L.A. traffic.

If it IS worse than Denver, I can't imagine why anyone would live there.

For those of us who may be coming from the east on 25....................

what alternative route would you suggest?????

I presume you mean coming from the south on I-25 since it runs north/south. If coming to Golden and are on I-25, you'd get off in Castle Rock at US-85N and take that north through Sedalia to C-470, then west on C-470 to I-70 for the couple of miles to the Marriott.

If you are coming from the north on I-25 and are wanting to make good time, then I'd just stay on I-25 to I-76W to I-70W to the Marriott.

Again, both suggestions are for making good time to get to the Marriott on your trip in.

ooops

know wonder I stay lost.

I was thinking I70..........How's traffic flow through Denver on 70?? from east to west?

LA?! Pfffffft, we got nothin' on Boston traffic! That's what your comparison should be. Shame we won't be able to share lanes, though. :(

Always heavy, but not bad if you avoid rush hour (7-9am, 3-7PM).

Been thru there a couple of times mid-afternoon... no problem, no slowdowns, just zoom...even tho I was warned how bad traffic was... pretty good compared to Dallas traffic at the same time of day...

LA drivers cut corners, guess they haven't learned how to turn a steering wheel past a quarter turn, yet; NY drivers, everybody leans on their horns; Dallas drivers just jam on the brakes; Phoenix drivers just sit there and nobody moves! Oh, and in Miami th bluehairs can't see over the top of the steering wheel! <LOL>

Oh the other side of Denver in the mountains, right before the first tunnel, i passed three bighorn sheep standing not 10 feet off the road. They were on the side of the mountain grazing... way cool. I doubt if one in a hundred peeps in cages ever saw them.
