I was about to put some frame sliders on my 07 today but do no have a super size allen wrench lying around. Does anyone know what size I need in order to loosen the bolts on each side.

Thanks,

Jeff

Put my sliders on the 08 last week and it was 10mm. I went to sears and bought a whole set of metric allen wrenches for 19 bucks.

10mm... and not to open a can of worms that rarely shuts, but how many pounds do ya plan on torquing the slider bolts to? Mine are at 29#, about average for what the last discussion covered.

If I'm not mistaken the debate continues... but seems someone had to order a custom seat that had a 30 degree bend in it to counteract the twisting of the frame after torquing to 194 pounds (um, too much), and someone else claimed they lost the engine due to the 4.5 pounds of torque they applied (not enough)...

Let's hear what you do it at...

Not sure of the torque specs. Plan on getting a set at Sears but would appreciate feedback on what torque specs to use when putting the sliders on.

Jeff

Some people don't torque them, just tighten them down with a dab of lock tite on them. Last I heard, they are still alive and kickin' and the sky hadn't fallen on them.

Some torque to 35f/lb because the SM gives that spec for the stock bolts in that position

I did mine to 40f/lb because when I got mine some time ago, that was what the instructions stated. I too have yet to be crushed by the sky

Good luck, you'll have no problem but watch out when you have to deal with the infamous "crush washer".

Of course that has nothing to do with sliders.

My instructions said to torque to 35 after researching on here I decided 29 and blue loctite was enough.
