Little blurb in the morning paper that the approachs to the town of Skykomish Wa. on highway 2 on the west side of Stevens pass have the speed limit just dropped from 60mph to 50mph. Those of us that regularly cross Stevens need to be aware so as not to get an "oopsy" from old habits. You can bet there will be enforcement focused there.

Just east of of Monroe Washington, on the way to Steven Pass, there are three little towns, Sultan, Startup and Gold Bar. In my ski days on the way to Stevens Pass, in the 1980's, I called these hamlets Startup, Slowdown and Get the Hell Out of My Way. Although I don't ski anymore somethings never change.

Thanks for the info, last I drove there it was very enticing to go way faster than permitted, but then there's the eternal slowdown around Gold Bar (they should call it hold bar!)......

On Saturdays and Sundays, during summer when riding over Stevens Pass, I prefer the riding eastbound for it is a flipping nightmare westbound after Skykomish. I am sure you know that George as you live in the Puget Sound Convergence Zone.

Note: The Puget Sound Convergence Zone is an area where it rains more than other areas in Western Washington. George lives at the convergence of these arrows, the usual area where the convergence zone lives.

I was in Skykomish on the 19th and had a meal at the Whistling Post Tavern.

Some ***** broke into the original bar that was built in 1903. He wanted the cash out of the ATM and cut himself trying to open the atm.

Being a worthless piece of crap with one strike against him, he decided to burn the bar down so the police couldn’t get his dna.

Keep in mind that is bar had the original bar and bar back from 1903 that was still in great condition.

Mr. Piece of Crap burnt the bar to the ground. Not much was saved and the police caught Mr. Crap any way. A year later, he is going to be sentenced on the 28th on over 20 counts.

The owners rebuilt the bar and bought a bar and bar back from Illinois.
