I got got some Skyway windshield spacers noticed that they didn't come with any sort of installation instructions. I don't have a shop manul so I don't know the way to remove the clolor matched trim that covers the bolts on the forward side of the shield. I would rather have someone tell me the technique beforehand than to start screwing around with the trim piece and end up breaking it.

Thanx

There are allen screws between the W and the windshield that remove it. Think like you're a bug about the hit the windshield of a bike going 80 mph and the angle you are about to get squished. That's the angle you use to access and loosen the screws.

For more detail, see The '06 Bin O Facts

You need a phillips head screw driver and a 4mm allen wrench. Remove the phillips head screws that hold the color matched portion of the windshield "W". Hold onto the windshield as you take these out, they are what retains the windshield. After the "W" and windshield are removed, you will see two 4mm allen head bolts recessed into the metal plate at the bottom of the "W" support. Take those out. Place the spacer underneath the bracket and reinstall the longer screws that came with the spacers. Put everything else back together.

Are these these the instructions for the 2006-2007 FJR? I have a 2006 model.

No they're not, that's why I suggested to read the " facts". Look underneath the "W" with a flashlight, you'll see the two allens you have to remove to release the painted " W" .

Skyway makes 06 spacers too...Queenie !

Sorry, I missed the side note that you had an 2006. I'm not that used to the format here, and offered help that pertained to my 05. I usually don't visit here often, and thought I would help.

Won't happen again.

The Highlander is quite right (on both counts). If you kneel down on the ground by the front wheel and look back up under the bottom edge of the windscreen, you;ll see the two small allen bolts that hold the colured BatMan mask cover on the windscreen. Be careful not to drop the little beggars when they come loose as they will come out when free.

JDFSAU - After the spacers are mounted, please post a picture or three if you can. I'm curious to learn more about the spacers for the 06, since I just ordered a set myself.

I have now updated the web site with detailed installation instructions. Once you read them, if there's anything you would like to see added, please let me know and I'll gladly include it.
