Yup, checked my SBC phone bill. I changed LD carriers back to SBC for $.06 a minute. I can live with that, especially now that I only have one consolidated bill.

Anyway, was looking over to see if the LD change went in to effect. Turns out that in the interim period I was SLAMMED by HT Telecommunications. They were charging me $5.95 plus tax on my phone bill for services I never ordered or needed. I think it was LD information flat rate or something to that effect.

I thought I had the lines/account blocked, but NoOoo. And I thought the days of all this slamming was over. I really got screwed a couple years ago when the wool was getting pulled over my office personel's eyes. Sheesh, what a PITA.

Just a heads up. Take a look at that phone bill. I've been paying mine automatically, even not getting a paper bill. Glad I took a looksee. Two emails and one phone call later, and it's all supposed to be fixed. So much for the 3rd party blocking call I endured a few weeks ago when I changed back to SBC.

Here ya go...

close out your SBC account..

buy a wireless card for your PC and steal your neighbor's broadband

sign up for VOIP from a company below:

Vonage

Problem solved

Great idea! My neighbors don't know what broadband is. If there was a hotspot, it would be me, not them.

Unfortunately, this is on my multiline business phone system, so it gets a little more complicated. But you got me thinking! Thanks!
