Last week I purchased a used Power Commander iii USB from forum member "Karl".

Installation was pretty easy, except for finding room for the new connectors behind the fuel rail.

I downloaded the software from the P.C. site, and downloaded the "Wally Kilburg Smoothness Map" from from H.Marc's excellent

FJR1300 info site. (https://www.fjr1300.info/)

Finally got a break from the rain today, and took a little test ride.

I can only say I shouldn't have waited so long. The throttle response is now very smooth. I was so used to part-throttle surging and off-idle

roughness, that I had learned to ride around it.

I tried very hard today to get it to surge or stumble, but I couldn't.

Even rolling on throttle in fifth gear at 2000 rpm, the motor just pulled smoothly.

I will have to see if I lose much fuel mileage, but some loss would be well worth it.

I'm also interested in how it runs when the weather gets hot.

Since my exhaust and air filter are stock, I'm not looking for H.P., just rideability

P.C. also has a stock bike map that I can try.

After one short ride, I have to give Dynojet two thumbs up!

Love mine also. Took care of the stalling issues that I had but Yamaha couldn't find. Sheeeeeez

You will burn some more fuel but it is well worth it. Your engine should run slightly cooler also or at least better for your pistons.

It costs gas, and I keep saying, OK, enough! Let me have my mileage back, and I'll disconnect the PCIII. I'll fight it for 2 or 3 day, and back in it goes. I haven't even been able to do without it for a tank!

You suck John ;) , a PCIII just went back on my farkle list. After being off the bike a while, I've put a few miles on between showers. Like you I've been riding around the surges, thinking it's rough pavement or maybe just me. It's more noticeable after a layoff. You just cut through my denial.

Hope it rides smooth for you.

I have an '04, been really happy with the PCIII on mine, don't recall what "map" I have on it, but between it and the "Accelerator Pump" function it is much better than stock!

I put a PCIII on my 07 and have been extremely happy with it. It rides the way I always thought it should. I also removed the air induction system, see HERE, which smoothed it out even more. Next time you have the tank off I highly recommend it...

And for me, the sacrifice of lower gas mileage is completely worth it!
