Took a leisurely cruise yesterday to visit Molson ghost town just east of Oroville. It was leisurely, because I rode with a cruiser-riding buddy, so we pretty much kept well within the legal limit.
Anyhow, after a full day riding, stopping at a couple of beaches, cooling off with a few refreshing beverages etc., we parted company at Keremeos, and I headed home.
As it turned out, someone driving a late-model Mustang unwittingly played rabbit for me, (140-170), so I finally had a chance to crack the feej's throttle a bit.
Whoa! Over 140Kph, the bike developed a noticeable vibration, which worsened with increased speed. Now, the fjr is the smoothest bike I've ever ridden especially at ludicrous speed, so I was hoping I'd just thrown a wheel weight or something, but when I checked, the weights were still there on both wheels, and I didn't notice anything amiss.
I was too tired to do more searching, but this morning I began a thorough examination, starting with the front wheel: Tire looked good, pressure was a bit more than 40, but not ridiculously so. I started rotating the wheel, to look more closely at the tire, and in doing so, noticed what looked like a tuft of fur embedded in one of the hollow spokes. I prodded it with a piece of stiff wire, and dislodged a defunct mouse.
No idea when/how/why the mouse got there, but removing the tiny corpse solved the vibration problem.
I wonder if there's a new mouse ghost in Molson?
