Well, some of you might be happy to see me leave, including a nameless moderator, but I enjoyed most of the discussions, and will try to continue them on other boards.

And no, my dear brothers, I WON'T bail out from Yamaha. At least not until I try everything myself, and give a reasonable chance to Yamaha to resolve my surging issue if I don't succeed myself. Since my success meter is not that high, due to the FJR being an otherwise fantastic machine, I'm almost sure when I'm done with a full synch the surging will be brought to a tolerable limit. I'm also trying it at extreme conditons, which I shoudn't encounter in most trips.

I'm leaving because I just found out about the '50% warning' on my handle. All because I comment I made on the pinned thread. And worst of all, I was the only freaking one; not even folks who posted the links got one. WTF?

Plus I was never 'warned' I could get a warning, like most decent admins would do.

PLUS there's a link to a service manual (it's even titled that way) on FJROwners, where most of the moderators here are moderators there, and THAT'S okay there, but not okay here. High ethical standards indeed.

And finally, the rules were changed to reflect that subject by none other than one of those 'dual' moderators. I never broke any forum rules (at least before I posted). And still I'm the only one with a freaking warning.

Since hell probably would have to freeze over before my 'warning' is removed, I'll ask to be permanently deleted from this forum right after clicking 'send' here. And let me repeat; more than having a warning, which I didn't even know I had until today, and don't feel I deserved, is the fact I was the only one to get one. That's absolute crap. And obvious I'm not liked here. Since I'm in their 'house', I've never been the kind to hang around as an unwelcome guest. And since I'm not a hypocrite, I'm getting out myself.

I have the same handle in all other forums, including the FJR and BMW ones, so I won't be a stranger to most. Take care gang; it was a pleasure while I lasted. I sure learned more about this bike in a month than all my other bikes combined, and mostly thanks to many of you. I really appreciate that. Ride safe gang.

some of the admins here USED to be admins there. not any more because they dared to suggest supporting this board.

i went and read the thread you mentioned and EVERYONE in the thread linking to the pirated © material had the link removed. you weren't singled out.

it pays to get your information straight before you publicly whine about being picked on.

Elp,

I am sorry to hear this and hope you find your solutions soon. Perhaps later after things settle down, please come back like Fred-H did.

All the Best!

Well....I don't think much of anything is going to make him happy, but I will clarify several things. You've jumped to a variety of incorrect conclusions.

1) As far as warn meters you really don't know what's going on. If you had bothered to read the Important Information for New User! thread when first joined AND I personally reminded you of shortly after that...you'd see that the 50% thing can be easily taken off if you bothered to ask. A warn is exactly that.....a warn. It's also private. Only you see your warning level....other user don't. Just like you don't see other people's warn level.....so you have no clue if anybody else got warned.

It's a private nudge to let you know something is not acceptable. It's not punitive. If you had violated a guideline you would have been put in time out.

2) Your cavalier attitude towards violating copyright law with service manuals was just one of the latest in trends admins and board members were concerned with. It wasn't changed because of you...but it's probably fair to say it expedited the inevitable guideline change.

....which leads to a related point:

3) At the same time as advocating taking copyrwritten material in another thread you're ranting about how Yamaha should read this board and do something about lean bikes. Hmmmm.

4) I don't think your info. about dual moderators is right. I'm not aware that any of the admins here are admins on the other board.

Doesn't much matter anyway because that board isn't this board.

5) We don't delete accounts and posts. You want to leave you're welcome to. Deleting your posts would create holes in the conversation and not fair to the board. Once you post...it stays.

So, either lighten up Francis....or don't let the door hit you in the ***.

...and just in case others are wondering....I didn't happen to be the admin that did the warn, but back his action 100%.

Man, what would some people do if something huge and devastating happened in their lives. This is a motorcycle board and community. Its for fun, info and enjoyment. Geeze if you can't enjoy motorcycling then sell em and give up riding.

You mean to tell me I didn't have to buy a copy!?! Why didn't anyone say anything sooner?
I have both, but I did pay for the printed version. I'm for the digital version IF you already have the "real" version.

Man! This is all so real! Reminds me of the time I got banished from a video gaming "clan" for something I cant even remeber anymore.

ELP i would take Iggy's advice and just light'n up; chalk it up to lesson learned.

-hugs not drugs

How refreshing. . .takes me back to my 'foot in the mouth' days on that other board which shall not be named. (hee - hee).

Don't take it too much to heart ELP. It's just a motorcycle forum.

It's funny how people just read all kinds of s*it between the lines.

I don't give a rat's a$$ about a freaking warning people; it's how it was handled. First, not even the courtesy of a notification, when I told slapdog (or whatever), after he sent me a PM, that I'd edit my message to make him happy. I couldn't do it since it was already locked. Then I told him he could delete it if he wanted. He said he was glad I took it well. Then he slap me with a freaking warning, when I didn't even post any links? This is about honor gentlemen: This is somebody's 'virtual' house, and if I'm not welcome, I'm out of here. This warning was not fair, period.

I don't give a rat's a$$ what anybody here think of me, or who I have pissed off, believe me. Even a mod like Ignacio (we happen to dislike each other), who wants the door to hit me in the a$$, and me to rebound on his face, but the 'owner' of the house is a different story. It's simply a personality thing. I can get insulted, attacked, or whatever, and I'd fight back with any 'guest' in a dignified way, but if I get unfairly reprimanded, I'm out. It's not my 'house', remember? And am not the kind of person who looks the other way just to be able to hang out. It's about honor, as stupid as it sounds.

And no, I'm not looking for support, sympathy, or any crap like that, like Ignacio told me; just stating my point of view.

I'm active in most boards at the beginning, when I want to become familiar with all the problems, solutions, tips, etc. on a new bike or car; that's what internet forums are for to me. But once I have my vehicle dialed in, I'm not nearly as active. Don't do rallies because HATE the traffic, and can't even enjoy the rides, so ride by myself or a friend (three is a crowd) the few bike trips I take a year. Motorcycling is my hobby, not my life, even though I'm fortunate enough to have 7 months off a year. When I'm done with my girls, I'll tour a lot more for sure, and might become interested in actually meeting board members, but not now.

So now that hopefully some of you can figure me out, I'm not being arrogant, or anything like that. I'm a very simple, uncomplicated guy. Same wife of 19 years, never cheated on her, 2 great kids, healthy, great family, great life; what the hell am I going to be upset about?

To end my last post, Ignacio said the warning would be removed by my asking. To show I'm a humble guy, and also to show if this guy can put his money where his mouth is, I humbly ask for it to be removed. This shows I'm not an arrogant guy. Unlike FredH, I'll be back when that happens. And I'd be nicer to Ignacio; I like people who have a word.

Later gang.

JC

Done. Warning Meter restored to 0%.

First, not even the courtesy of a notification, when I told slapdog (or whatever), after he sent me a PM, that I'd edit my message to make him happy. I couldn't do it since it was already locked.
This courtesy thing seems another misunderstanding. I'm fairly sure the PM you're referring to was the warning. Warnings come through as PM's to people. You got it on 6/30 at 3:53 p.m......about 4 minutes before Slap posted a note to the thread and closed it. Standard procedure my friend.

I still think you're missing the point about deleting posts or editing people's posts for content. We really try to not do that. People get all up in arms and start using the "censorship" word and start talking about constitutions and stuff. Generally, what you post stays...warts and all.

Your move Cochise. There's still a New User FAQ available for reading.

I think it's pretty funny that while I was reading this post, the Clash song, "Should I stay or should I go" was playing!

So, what'd you decide, to stay or go?

Hell, I'm digging the movie character references, with "Francis" and "Cochise"... :clapping:

Well, I'm back gentlemen; warning was removed. And as I promised, I want to publicly thank Ignacio for it; he's a man of his word.

And yes, I know all about the user agreement now :dribble: .

Generally, what you post stays...warts and all.
Hey, I edit my posts all the time buddy, since I'm a lousy writer; you're not taking that away from me, are you?? < ha ha>. Hope not.

Well, glad the misunderstanding is over.

Made myself a few more 'enemies' in the process :assassin: , but that was the real me, so what the heck; that's what you get.

I'm bowing out of this thread as it's over (to me, at least). Time to redirect my surfing time to the surging issue. Take care.

JC

Man, there are some serious dramas on this board (and most internet boards for that matter)....bet people would act whole lot different if we were all in a room and had to talk face to face instead of anonymously (in most cases) across a computer screen.

Don't get me wrong, I have lost my temper before in the heat of the moment on maybe one occassion on this board but my reaction was actually quite tame compared to how I would have acted if the person had been right there beside me. :)
