So putting hyperlites in brakes can save how much power?

If I were to consider replacing the brake lights and all four turn signals all with HYPERLITES, would that be smart? And would it be significant savings of power? Thanks.

Alexi

Other than that most states require a brake light to stay on when you press the brake as well as a running light at night of lesser intensity, that Hyperlites aren't built to plug in to the existing sockets, and that the amount of power saved when brakes lights are only used intermittently is probably just a few watts.....I wouldn't bother.

Hperlites are designed to be supplementary to existing brakes lights and do a very good job at exactly that.

Also, if you're watt challenged there are far better solutions out there.

Thanks for the quick reply! Ok. I have my ideas of how to use them as supplements to the OEM bulbs. Just wondering if I should plan on one day going through the effort of replacing the OEM bulbs with them. Thanks.

Hi Alexi

have you considered Kisan Tailblazers? My wife and I use them on our bikes ; https://www.kisantech.com/index.php?cat_id=3

Truly plug and play.

Spendy? yes - but highly functional, bright and robust.

cheers - Mr Bull

I replaced all my bulbs with LED bulbs, you will need a 4 resistor for the turn signals to slow the flashing or you can get a special flasher for LED to replace on the bike.I got them on e-bay, you will need a 2-7443 (white) for the front, 2-1156 (amber) rear turn signal, 2-1157 (red) for the brake/tail.

Let's start with the underlying question. What do you need the extra power for? The FJR has enough existing to power extra items as is, so what is it you're looking to power that you need the savings?

Well, IDEALLY, it'd be great to run cruise control, JMCB-2003, Zumo 550, heated jackets (2) and gloves (2), and seats.
That's a LOT of stuff though. I've been thinking and I think I can get away with heated seats and gloves (2) in addition to the other stuff.

On my '06 I don't have any problem with a heated seat (x2), gloves (x2), jacket (x2), XM receiver, Starcom, GPS, cruise control, V-1 and remote display for it, tire-pressure monitor, and a cell phone charger.

It's infrequent that I would have all of this list on at the same time but I have a time or two. But I'd have to switch off my Motolights to do it, and turn off the heating items unless you're maintaining highway speeds. And install a Datel meter to monitor it.
