It runs to here, not sure how this comes apart.

So, does this mean I need a whole new brake line, or just this one section? I've never replaced brake lines before. Doesn't look to be too tough of a job, but anything I should know?

My 05 is non-abs so it was a walk in the park to upgrade the brake lines.

Having never worked on an ABS model I can't offer much specific guidance other than the lack of replies is probably related to NAFO.

I think there are only 3 or 4 of us left on the forum, we have it all to ourselves

iiwm dept: IF you can get just the sections you need, then only replace them (why pay/buy more).

when done you'll need to vacuum bleed the system as there are too many places for air to get trapped in the ABS system than a simple press on the levers can clear. a mity-vac systme is cheap and makes it a 1 person job.

I can't really tell, but it looks like you're saying the metal line is crimped/squashed? looks like it, but I can't be sure... From looking at the ABS on my '07 and the official Yamaha online microfiche at https://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/parts/Default.aspx, it looks like the line is replaced as a unit, you can't just replace the crimped metal section. This looks like item #31 on the "FRONT MASTER CYLINDER" page & ronayers.com sez that part number's about $140 clams. It also looks like a major pain in the *** to replace, as it snakes all the way back to the ABS pump, and I think bleeding out an ABS system is also a major pain, but I have yet to do that myself. I know doing regular brakes is not fun and you need to know a bunch of little tricks.

So what DID happen? Did you have a front-end or something? This definitely looks like a warranty-able issue. How long has it been like that?

Yeah, what bounce said. Also, be aware that brake fluid will eat the living **** out of your paint. Avoid all brake fluid/painted part contact. If any contact occurs, clean off ASAP!

Depends on what you mean by a whole brake line. It seperates at the block in picture three (two flare fittings there on the left). Then at the banjo fitting on the front of the bike where the other two lines take off. Third place is at the banjo fitting at the front master cyclinder. Make sure you get new crush washers for the banjo fittings (yamaha part # 90201-10118-00 comes in a 5 pack you'll only need 4 of those). Refill with brake fluid, power bleed the system, leak check and go.

Looks to me like you bottomed the suspension really hard and cracked the line. Are your front suspension settings soft?

You can replace this easily if you are mechanically inclined.

Use the ABS brake line install threads/info as a guide.
