I need some suggestions for the best BBQ rib joint in So Cal for either the end of this month or March. Give us your favorite and best recomendations for all of us to go.

Having folks hunched over their handle bars after a full bowl of chili sounds a bit frightening... I think I would definitely be observing the 2-second spacing rule (on second thought, for safety you might want to make that a 10 second spacing rule).
Phil's BBQ in San Diego
This place is definitely the best in San Diego. I've never taken anyone there that hasn't returned over and over again. They're so popular that they close down the entire month of January every year for maintenance and also so all the employees can take a vacation. Since yesterday was Feb 1, half of my office wanted to go straight to Phil's for their opening day.
The owner is happy with his small restaurant and has been asked to franchise or open more restaurants lots of times. They're always extremely busy so it might be tough to get in and out with a large group. If there is enough interest I could ask the owner (since he sees me ALL the time) if we could reserve a section (obviously that's just a proposal - I don't think I've ever seen them reserve a section so it might not be something they do).

great idea, since we will be going thru julian on sunday, I think I will pickup a plate.
