I am planning a trip starting is SoCal to San Luis Obispo. Then on to hearst castle, Big Sur, Monterey, spend the night then home. If the distance from San Luis Obispo to Monterey, via the 1, is to long (based on time) maybe just halfway up and back to San Luis Obsipo.

Need input on Hotels in both San Luis Obispo and Monterey. We were thinking about the Madonna Inn however we have been there before and thought for the money we might find a better place. Maybe something with in room Jacuzzi or just all around nicer. The Madonna is fun however if you've done it before it goes from fun to tacky.

Any input is appreciated on both the hotel and the route and if your interested in the trip.

As long as you're in San Simeon, Monterrey is but a twist (repeat as needed) of the throttle away. I'd say the Madonna Inn is a good base and yeah, it's a hoot of a joint, but there's a ton of great motels on the ocean in Cambria, especially if you're traveling with your better half. ;) I'd say LA to Cambria, to Monterrey, to LA is at best a 3 day trip v. 2 day if you are site-seeing over miles/day.

PM our boys in the area, dcarver or khunajawdge.

You might want to ride Naciemento Rd while you're up that way. Also, ride Carmel Valley Rd as well.. Lots of twisties and it's been repaved about a year ago..

Hold that thought Skuehl i am going to talk to Jill and Barry about that very ride (or something close) on Sunday, i willl let you know what the out come is.

But Tim THE MADONA INN that is one funky place. It's alright if you like sleeping in a theme park.
