LMFAO !!! 9 Mile Cat awesome... !!!! I am just so new to the bike I think I hear all these goofy sounds and stuff when you are exactly right... just ride the damn thing. I really enjoy it so far... do want a little more wind protection though and a center stand, doesn't fit in my garage leaning on the side stand...

Vstroms a great I have a 650 wee for years. The Board is a great help but all boards take advice with a grain of salt.

I have a large cee bailey screen I think the medium size, and a madstand bracket ,this helps me get realy good protection .Packing the scren also works for some .

Things that I recomend are

Fork brace ( A must do IMO )

Elka shock Costly but great to do when miles build up

Hand guards

heated grips

sheepskin seat and an airhawk

better hand grips ( applies to most bikes )

Some people like risers ( Fox riser IMO are worth a look at ) ,but get the seat right first as this may solve the bar reach problem.

Keep your eyes out for second gear for the Vstrom it comes up often.

Enjoy the bike

Hey Graham,

Thanks for the tips and thoughts... I'm getting used to it. I will admit it's a bit addicting... wasn't sure I was gonna like it at first but the truck like throttle reaction and throaty exhaust are a uniqueness I'm starting to love. Haven't ridden the FJR in over 2 weeks. :dribble:

My wife even made me switch my personalized plate to the Vee.... Guess she was SERIOUS when she said that Fijer was now HER bike!

IT's funny you bought a Vstrom . I have just flew part way across Australia to buy a 2005 FJR 1300 with what they call high millage downunder for a bike 118,000 Klms about 70,000 miles . It was at the right price $ 8,000 when new fjr1300 are $23,000, To give you a comparison I can get about $ 6,000 for my 650 Vstrom with 90,000klms on it so I think I got a good buy.The old owner was meticulus to the extent he even wrote down the part numbers whenever the dealer replace a headlight bulb !!

I am looking forward to choosing which way I decide to ride back

It's great to have two bikes to choose from .
