..........and it damn sure isn't built for comfort! But it's fun as hell, and that's what matters. I wasn't riding the FJR like it was meant to be anyways, mainly short hops around town commuting and running errands. The CBR is a lot easier around town, WAY lighter and more nimble. It doesn't have near the bottom end grunt, but once you get going, she's a screamer. Pus, the tanks of gas I checked shows it's getting just a hair under 50 mpg. I ride pretty conservatively, I guess that helps. The brakes are awesome. I got the ABS model, and this thing shuts down really quick. I've already had to put Stomp Grip on the tank so I will quit slamming my balls into the tank when I hit the brakes hard. This will be a fun bike for a couple of years until I have more time to travel. I'll get another touring bike of some kind at that point. Maybe Yamaha will have an updated FJR at that point.

Maybe you should have bought a Suzuki Burgman 650. Its great for commuting in town and running errands and you don't have to worry about slamming your balls into the tank when you stop. It's comfortable and will even hold a pizza in the storage area under the seat.

I just sold my FZ6 and while demo'ing it for the buyer, did a couple runs down my block. Man, I'm gonna miss the nimblenes of that bike. Imagine the CBR is that much more.

So many great bikes out there, so little time!

So does that mean your done riding with Feejer people? :p Hope not! I didn't know you had sold it when I left you a voicemail Saturday afternoon.

Congrats on the new bike, much better choice than a Wing! See ya around town! ;)

I sold my 07 FJR to purchase a leftover 08 CBR1000RR. I am adding bar risers, seat and luggage and still touring.

I'll probably add some Helibars. I put on a Saddlemen gel seat, and it's pretty comfortable. I can see me taking some shorter trips, probably just overnight at the most. Twisted Throttle has some really nice bag systems ( https://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/916/340/ ), but they are a little pricey. I put one of their Bag Connection tank bags on and it's a real quality piece. Locks onto the gas cap ring. Bike's a real kick in the ***, I'm having a ball.

Yes, I am moving my bags connection tank bag over to the 1krr. It has a plastic tank cover so that or a strap on tank bag were my only choices. I went with convertibars for the adjustability. I would give them a recommendation but be advised the owner of convertibars just died of cancer and at the moment shipping and such is a little slow.

I have been looking into the saddlemen seat, which model did you end up with?

Have fun.

I went the other way last fall. Sold my '08 CBR600RR for the FJR. Over the year and a half I had the CBR, I was continuously making changes to it to make it more comfortable (padded seat, helibars etc.). I finally decided to get a comfortable yet somewhat sporty bike. Looked at a Honda ST1300, but it was too Goldwingy. I love the FJR now.

Sometimes I miss the CBR - instant accelleration and lane changes etc, but wouldn't go back and sacrifice the comfort. Not much good for anything much over an hour in the saddle. Maybe I'll pick up a used one in a couple years for short hops.

I got the "Sport Style" seat. Good so far.

I highly recommend the tank-ring mounted tank bags to avoid the straps and since you can't use magnets on the CBR. I had one on my CBR and now on my FJR. You can remove and reattach the bag for fueling in a matter of seconds.

I hate when that happens... :blushing: Seriously, my son has a CBR and I can't get him off of it. He's ridden my FJR, but prefers the nimbleness of his CBR. Enjoy the ride...

I have an 04 R6 and I love that it's lighter and quicker, but I will not get rid of the FJR and have only the R6 to ride, I guess I'm lucky to have both bikes. I still ride the FJR 90% of the time. All I need is a Dual Sport / Motard type to be complete the stable.

Son in Law has a CBR1000RR

I've ridden it, the heart says yes, the body says "are you f**king NUTS!"
