I bought this seat from France on Ebay direct from the manufacturer for $431.

It is nice, but I do not like how close to the tank it puts me. (I am 6' tall and 215 lbs)

I think it would suit a smaller rider just fine.

This is for a 2006 or newer FJR.

$380 shipped CONUS

Thanks

[This is] not the only one, guys.

It looks like you can order one from the manufacturer for about $250 (if you provide the base) For an additional deposit they will loan you a seat base, or you can buy a full seat from them (still only $410 shipped to US). They also let you customize height, materials, stiching, gel options, and heaters.

Forget the ebay ones [too]. [Those are] total rip off.

Poor form to shit on someone's classified. Buy it or don't. Start a thread about your favorite alternative. Ask questions.

They'll sell it or not sell it.

If the buyer and seller are happy with the transaction, then it's not a "rip off". Ratchet down the rhetoric.

I guess I missed something here. I didn't see anyone crapping on anyone's sale but just pointing out alternatives to those who missed out.

See the post and my reference to "total rip off".

Ok, now I see what you were thinking. But I never thought of it as denegrating the original buyer who bought the seat on ebay, but as a message to everyone else who might be thinking of buying, that it is a better deal direct from the manufacturer. Surprising how different people can read the same words and read something entirely different about intent.

Just to let everyone know, IF my father does not like the seat we will only keep it to ride while a Russell Day Long is being built on his OEM seat pan. IF that happens I will repost the seat here for my fellow forum members with an honest explanation of why we are selling it. I am satisfied at this time that the seller is treating me fairly and honestly in keeping with the standards of this excellent forum, and IF I do resell the seat, I will do my best to do the same.

Seat has already been sold, ace. How is that shitting on anything? I was informing others who responded wishing they could still buy this seat and letting them know that they can. The ebay seller is overcharging, since you can buy the same seat, with customization, for less. If you disagree, then fine, but that's a rip off in my mind.

The seat was 202 euros in France. That is roughly 250 U.S. dollars. In France. I am not in France. I do not know what shipping from France to Louisiana would actually cost and I don't really care. The seller and I spoke on the phone, he told me what he paid to get it here. He sold it to me for less than he paid and he paid the shipping to me. He received it yesterday and turned around and sold it to me the same day he got it. He may have lied to me, but I hope that is not the case. I have been looking for an aftermarket seat and I don't want Dad to not have a seat to use if we do get a Russell. I hope to receive a very good looking seat that no one else I know has in a few days. If I have been "ripped off", shame on me. I have spent more money on less usefull things in the past.

I don't think you got ripped off. Paying a little more or less than someone else, so what. With the internet today, it is possible to think you got the lowest price. But there is always someone else out there who spent less. And that is just the way it is. So enjoy the seat. I can guarantee you that over my 61 years of life I have gotten great deals and sometimes paid more than I could have had I only known what I came to know after the fact. In the big scheme of things, it means little. It is called marketing. Just one more of life's lessons.

What is really sad here is that the administrator or whoever he is made a big ass deal out of something that was at least in my opinion a big nothing. Had he not chimed in here, I doubt no one would even be discussing this absurdity. Enjoy the seat, you or your father and if it don't work out, sell it. If you lose a couple bucks, big deal. I mean what are we talking about here $20-$30-$40 max? Hell, I have spent more than that on a couple of shots of scotch...and not even the really good stuff.

And if I get kicked off here, tough shit. Because I don't give a damn.

Redfish: I was never saying, or trying to imply, that YOU got a bad deal. I am talking about the SELLER ON EBAY. I never said anything about anyone here, or about this sale being good, bad, or otherwise. No clue why this is so hard to understand.

All I was trying to do is show my fellow forum members where they can get a seat like this. FOR LESS THAN ON EBAY. It has nothing to do with this seat, already sold with buyer and seller seemingly very happy.

Sometimes all you have to do is read the words, without reading a bunch of shit into the words. I wrote exactly what I meant in my first post. When I reread it, I still don't understand why it is confusing.

it's the seller being slammed as ripping off the buyer. now you've helped turn a classified into a debate. the original slam and now the debate detract from the seller's "ad". ratcheting back the original comment away from insults would have kept it appropriate to a sale, explanation of pricing, "discussion". debates on follow up issues are best taken to a new thread and into the appropriate section of the board.

i would encourage the buyer to post up a new thread in classified if he later decides to sell it.

I acted based on a reported complaint. It wasn't unilateral. The wording was misunderstood by others as well. Your explanation helps. Thanks.

er... ok?

I will certainly start a new thread if it comes to that, but I hope it is the perfect seat. I am quite confident that the seller dealt with me honestly. After he ate the shipping cost to me, he lost money on the deal. I have no gripes with any of the posts, but I appreciate that the admins do police the forum. I will (AFTER!!!! a thorough search for other threads) post a review of the seat, in the appropriate subforum.
