Solo Or Group Rides?

I do much better by myself and you don't have to time your stops based on someone else's bodily needs or their bikes need for fuel if they have a different type bike.

 
2 years ago i led a group of 40+ bikes to the laughlin river run o my god! talk about a nut house at gas stops, to club rules of 5 miles an hour below the posted speed limits. 8 hrs to get to kingman Arizona from oceanside ca.Someone else took them home.I WAS GOING ON TO VEGAS BEFORE HEADING HOME ! It was great to experience some peoples first highway trip,to see the weekend 'easy riders',become men and women of the open road.however 8 hrs! Comming home from vegas i was rather tired from a week of non-stop whatever and wanted to push the gas milage.when she started to spit i reached down to go to reserve.o no.I was already on reserve just outside of victorville.i just stood on the side of the road with my gas cap in my hand..not 15 min.went by when someone pulling a boat ( with lots of gas cans )pulled over and filled me up.i tried to pay him and he refused,he simply said help someone else someday.i kinda like to think we are never alone.especially in the two wheel world...happy fjr'n

 
I ride alone. Other than that, I like to ride by myself.

Unless there's nobody else to ride with, then I'll consider riding solo.

 
I have a rideing partner whom I've ridden with for several years we have same rideing style and we can talk with each other either on the CB close or Ham rigs up to 40 miles, but still on ld rides I do alone haven't been able to talk ghim in to 1 yet. BBG (EXTREME) for my next ride.

My experience in my several certified IB rides including SS1k, BBG, 100CCC(insanity) are that more than one partner is a drag on making the time for all runs except the SS1K. 1000 hours in less than 24 hours is not a difficult ride particularly if you run the interstates. The 1500 BBG requires 62.5 mph for each hour to make it. Done on the interstates it is not to difficult, but done on a combo of secondary roads and interstates it is progressively more difficult if you don't have a range of about 300 miles between fueling. The 100CCC is difficult but with proper time management of riding 20 hours and sleeping 6hours each day, it can be done without exhaustion, mostly mental and visual(ask me how I know!!)

I like riding with my buddy whom I have done the above listed rides. He is a great dedicated and motivated rider(HD heritage classic) and is a greater rider, never complains about anything. Biggest problem with riding with him is his HD needs gas about every 150-170 miles, while my 05 FJR with the Tanji cell can do over 400 miles.

My next BBG will be solo in the Red Hot riders Baby Butt 1500. Got to make some real progress as I expect from experience that the route will include lots of secondary roads.

Very helpful response and very appreciative. I hope I, too, can share stories such as this some day. I've only got this little ss1000 under my belt, but, am looking forward to the next one and something other than an interstate run.
