I've got a Solo radar detector and would like some sort of external indicator (flashing light?) that will alert me to the detector going off. I've not gotten comfortable with earphones/plugs etc (don't run any music or intercom, only earplugs) so the only thing I have is if I happent to catch the Solo lights in my perphiphial vision. I have the Solo mounted on my windshield via the hard mount thru the shield from Aerostitch.

Is there enough power in the speaker output jack to flash a light of some sort? Anybody have a remote indicator?

Looks like exactly what I'm looking for (although I may need sunglasses all the time).

Unfortunately: "The Visual Alert will unfortunately not work with any model of the Escort Solo®." From the web page. However, I'll give them a call Monday to see if they have any suggestions. Thanks for the link

I think you're going to find that's a limitation of the Solo regardless of after-market visual indicators. They did a pretty good job at making it efficient internally to detect rard, but given the brightness of LEDs you'd need to see in the daytime....it's probably not going to have enough juice to power lights. This has been discussed several times on the forum without an optimal solution.

You'd probably be better off either changing to a powered detector and a visual indicator or using the ear jack port.

There is somebody making an external control harness that has an on/off and LED indicator. I don't know if it uses a relay to power the LED but have seen a couple on bikes so I know they work. Just tried a quick web search for you and didn't find it but keep looking.

I too have used the HARD for several years and wouldn't be without it- it is especially useful at higher speeds where audible alerts are harder to hear. Downsides- pricey, helmet light is nasty at nite and can't easily be turned off, battery will run down if you don't shut it off at end of day.
