re: Daytona 200, Erion Honda/American Honda 600s --

  • 16,500 rpm downshifts caused Hodgson to blow-up his 3rd (and final) engine.
  • Team couldn't re-fit Zemke's rear axle -- he finished 13th.
  • Miguel was black-flagged for illegally swapping bikes on lap 44 -- he pulled-in 6 laps later.
  • Josh Hayes won while 32 sec. ahead after 69 laps of the 2.9 mi. course.
  • He was disqualified 6 hours later for an illegally modified crankshaft.
  • The Honda FX engines are only expected to last about 350 miles.
  • A winter's worth of development only netted about 2.5 hp.
  • The 600cc (stock-based) engine spins in the 18,000 rpm range.
  • 600s have greater corner speed than 1000s.
  • 600s -- do almost 190 mph on the banking; 1000s -- almost 200.
What it all means...? I certainly don't know.
