The damage to the car is worse than it looks. That wheel isn't actually part of my car any more.

Probably totalled the kid's Regal that pulled out and hit me, but my car will more than likely be just under the mark for a trip to the salvage yard. Nobody injured, either.

I tried to avoid the kid, and glad I did. Instead of me hitting him more head on, in the driver door (maybe) or his quarter by aiming behind him, I got in front of him (thinking he might actually stop) enough to have him hit my front wheel (and knock it off). The slow motion spin was... interesting. A lot happens in the blink of an eye.

Surprised that my airbags didn't deploy.

I know I should have never gone to the car wash that morning.... :angry2:

Glad it's too damn cold and snowy to ride.... sorta.

Lucky you! At first I feared an incident in your airplane. But, it's only a car.

Sorry, but glad you're okay!

See, that's why I never wash my car. Washed it twice in 3 years.... 1 time a bird pooped all over it. Another time it rained the next day.

The moral of the story is, don't wash your car, or your bike, because you know what they say about clean bikes around here!

Oh yeah, and glad you are o.k.

Matt, bummer...glad you're ok. Don't even want to think about  , if you would have been on two wheels. The car looks bad. :(

Bad luck Matt - something similar happened to me last Fall. Was on the interstate on a Monday (and, of course, had just washed the car the day before...) when, out from left field, a young girl lost control of her Dad's little Honda, did several 360's and hit me almost head on (she was actually at that point traveling backwards while still spinning). I had gone to the right as far as I could (any further right and I'm in the concrete barrier). $14,000 damage to my Lexus, and not close to being totalled (unfortunately). No airbag deployment either, as at impact we were still traveling forward, and apparently I didn't have the decelleration necessary for it to deploy.

Sad thing is, it is such an inconvenience. Rental cars, paperwork, missed half a day of work, and now the accident and repair shows up on the CarFax report. And through no fault of my own.

Good news is - nobody hurt :clapping: . Life goes on. Best of luch to ya. Jay

That's exactly my point, man I'm glad I was in the cage, otherwise I would have been toast. But maybe not. Perhaps I'm more vigilant on my FJR, fewer distractions and always on the defense (mixed with a healthy dose of offense).

The estimate is in. Under the total mark by a good margin. Allocated 5 hours of labor in the estimate to straighten the frame. **** ME!!!

sorry about the wrinkles..

Very glad you're not hurt...

But really sucks that it's not totalled!

Glad you are OK. Car can be replaced. Hope you SLAPPED the kid around a little (just kidding). :assassin:

Yow! Rude Day Opener! And Yes Indeed, .... VERY HAPPY you didn't exercise your Ride Option today!!!

BTW, Gotta Love your C&H avatar!!! ...if I can ever find a little part-ad-lib, part-plagerism I did on a C&H theme once, I might have to use it as mine.

Glad you are OK, as well as the kid. I especially hate that it was a Subaru smashed up as well.

Had a woman rear end me at 25mph (I was stopped at the light) and when we got out to look at the damage (she totalled her car and mine, and we bounced off of 2 other cars)...she looked me straight in the face and said "My husband and I were looking to get rid of this car anyways. I guess this makes that decision easier now!".

It took every ounce of restraint to avoid ripping into her.

Glad you're ok Rocket and thankfully you weren't on your feejer. Too bad it wasn't one of my Idaho buddies that jumped out in front of you. Could have been a lot less damage (may be)
