O kay, for the kharma clock keeper, where did I run over a puppy? I just don't get, this is among the worst year of all the past20 yrs I can think of!

First, I fall down a spiral staircase going to work and getting a lovely concussion and hitting hard enough to break some arthritic calcium deposits off my vertebra, one of which came awfully close to lodging in my c3-c4 space, didn't so who cares on that. Next I wipe the feej out 3 blocks from home. No biggie, learned my lesson went on to heal myself and the bike. Only had one minor glitch w/ the bike and that was the generator cover gasket shifted at the last second when I put the new stator on and didn't notice 'til it was too late and leaking oil! Oh well, ordered new gasket after finding it irrepairable and wait a few days, better than screwing up again because of oil slick or worse, having it start losing oil to the point it hurts the engine somehow. And I ordered a few more things to add while I was waiting.

Well all my stuff came and was put on w/o any problems this time, me and the SO went out for a nice ride saturday afternoon and had a blast :yahoo: , almost forgot how good it felt to ride, it had been since March 15 for the most part. I was gonna take the bike to work yesterday instead of caging it but I had some uniforms in the Tahoe that wouldn't fit on the feej so 4 wheeled it one more time.

Here's where I figure someone/thing hates me. After all I did to get healthy and fix the bike like new I now have a newly acquired RUPTURED EARDRUM!!!! That is correct, a ****** ruptured eardrum that is a real pleasure to have. First, if I move my head too fast I get real motion sick and end up vomiting if I don't get it settled immediately. I'm also completely deaf in my right ear now, double ****! Now I can't drive anywhere, hear anything or even eat that much for fear of having it come up next round of vertigo/nausea (spicy chicken really burns too).

The only good thing was that this happened at work and was witnessed by 2 fire companies that were helping us work on a guy that fell 3 stories into a dumpster! If wasn't work related I'd be really screwed. I heard that he died later(my pt), all this for nothing :glare: . According to the doc(hottie too) is that it could take few months to heal completely and/or surgery may be needed to facilitate a speedy recovery. I just happen to have an appt w/ my doc this week for a checkup for smoking seccessation(?) labs, hopefully he can provide a little help in making recovery a little quicker.

Oh, did I mentionTHIS ****** SUCKS!!!!?

For those that are curious how it happened, a surgical q-tip the length a #2 pencil landed on my shoulder somehow( we use 'en to push blood out of angiocath's to get blood sugars) and as I turned to grab some gear it impaled itself in my eardrum!!!!!!! :elf: One minute everything is kool the next felt like I was in video game where the grenade detonates right next to you but you're unharmed At frst you feel the impact, next you lose your hearing at the same time the world starts spining and then the pain starts. When we got done transporting the pt to the hospital I was sweating so bad I soaked thru 2 shirts and a towel. Nobody could tell me how that thing landed on my shoulder or how it enede p impaling itself in me, the odds of that happeneing are as good as lotto #'s matching.

Anyone else ever have a ruptured eardrum?

Sorry if some of this doesn't make sense, I can't look up at screen too quickly or else I vomit(twice while typing this) and I'm getting really sick of it! No pun intended  Thanks for letting me vent. 21 DAYS AND COUNTING W/O A CIGARETTE :yahoo: !. I gotta have something to cheer about!

Jesus evil, maybe you should go buy a lotto ticket! When that luck momentum changes direction it is bound to swing all the way to the other side! Did you get Doc Hottie's number? :)

Heal fast,

gypsy

Sorry you had all those things happen to you, however i hope you get better soon, because your bike looks better already!

Now put some nice cans on that thing!

Wow. Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Does a ruptured eardrum heal? Does it affect your balance, as in can you ride?

Evil,

Maybe someone's trying to tell you something? Keep you off the bike?

Maybe you should take some time off - go find yourself a nice quiet spot by a lake, sit there and drink your beverage of choice, smoke cigars, and do nothing.

Just make sure there aren't any large trees that can fall on you, and stay away from sharp (and dull) objects.

Sometimes you have to step away from it all and regroup.

My brother has had issues with a ruptured ear drum. From watching and talking to him, it is an excrutiating thing to go through.

He thought he had swimmers ear, so he put some drops in there (they are mostly alchohol), I'd never seen him scream like that.

His did heal, and it did not leave him with any permanent discomfort, hearing loss, or loss of balance. The only thing he's not allowed to do is go scuba diving any more due to pressure posibly resulting in another perferation.

Sorry to hear, what a crazy way for this to happen. Hope everything heals up sooner than later.

Maybe you should change your name from EVILmedic? Who knows...can't hurt..er..um...

sorry about your misfortune...

Holy Crap it sucks to be you...

Hang in there man!

Oh, and I was thinking you should send me that Corbin Seat for safe keeping. We don't want anything bad to happen to it.

How long did it take to heal?

Get well soon. I guess it beats being the guy who fell into a dumpster, but still blows hard.

As a scuba instructor, I have seen this injury four times on others, never myself.

The shortest period I have seen healing to the point of not losing balance is 5 months. The longest I have seen is 14 months, but this person did not follow doctor’s orders well. Personally, I would go for surgery just to make sure it heals correctly.

It all made sense, in fact it was very well written. Maybe you should become a short story writer! I don't know what to say other than, that sucks!

Dude, that blows big time! Take it easy and I would say stay off two wheels for a while. Would hate to hear your crashed because you suddenly lost balance on the bike!!
