Something else to loctite...

How many times are we going to hear about people getting rid of the "crappy plastic" bolts on the windshield? Why stop at replacing the screws with stainless? Just have a piece of sheet metal cut to replace the windshield. Maybe even serrate it to look cool. Also, might want to opt for that prepaid cremation package since none of your family is going to want to see what's left.

That big torx head bolt behind the shifter lever that connects the frame to the output shaft housing. It's got to be a #42 torx or bigger. My set only goes to #40, so I have to go out and buy the damn tool now.
I tried to but couldn't find that bolt anywhere in the Yamaha parts catalog either. Tried every category that made sense and a few that didn't.

Old post but better than making a new one. First ride today this spring and found out this larger torx bolt was nearly falling out it was touching my shifter it was out so far. Check them out on your bike!

I am pretty sure that the big torx bolt is a T-50. I am pretty sure the large standard sizes go T40, T45, T50, T60.

Just be careful not to get any loctite on the plastic of the fender.
...That $hit will eat plastic in no time. ...
And seeing is believing! Making final preparations for the trip to NAFO the next morning, I was installing my GPS cradle to a tech mount stem fitting. The fasteners were small bolts through the mounting plate into brass threaded inserts embedded in the back of the cradle's plastic body. "Hum." thought self, "I better loctite these."

Before I got done tightening the fourth and last bolt, the first bolt felt loose, and in literally a couple of minutes the plastic around the threaded inserts had cracked and crumbled! An object lesson...

Yep. T-50 as noted here with the torque values.

If you're using loctite on parts that go thru plastic, put it sparingly on the threads and wipe around with your finger so there's no excess, then let it dry for a few minutes before you put the screw in.......
