If A.B.A.T.E. of Montana instigated such a move, it would say, "...Look Twice for Harley Davidson Riders."

Wouldn't that be more like "Listen for Harley Davidson Motorcycles " ?

Someone posted in the Brammo (EV) motorcycle accident article that the rider got hit from behind because the bike was too quiet, rather than the Audi driver not paying due attention.

Amazing what qualifies as safety equipment to the helmetless crowd.

I saw my first example of this new freeway message riding in this week, and I felt a warm glow, like when my mommy told me I was special.

How can we send a note of thanks to Caltrans?

We all know you're 'special' JB. Did the driver of the short yellow school bus tell you that every day too? I'll bet that bus was ONLY for the 'special' children.

Good job Caltrans. A step in the right direction. We've had those signs in the south for a little while now. I wonder if they are having a good effect on drivers. Glad they used the term 'motorcyclists' rather than 'bikers'.

Great point!

UPDATE on the AMBER Alert motorcycle message. Telephone comments to Cal Trans have been mostly favorable EXCEPT in San Diego Area. Very vocal opposition to motorcycles, the sign message, and motorcycle riders in general. One person screamed at the operator for 7 minutes.

Seems way over the top, but San Diego area has the largest motorcycle/auto fatality rate in California. Maybe it is related?

Longrider,

Not planning to visit San Diego
