After a year of planning and lurking, a few months liquidating toys and shopping, I finally pulled the trigger on my first FJR!!! Found it in St. Louis and flying down to pick it up next Friday. It has a few farkles I want (Two Brothers, top case, CalSci, sliders), and $7K for an '06 with 17K seems pretty good now that spring/summer pricing is in effect.

Pretty stoked about riding it 800 miles back home... do y'all think this bike can handle an 800 mile trip? ;)

Looking forward to more fun trips and farkles to come, thanks for your deep well of knowledge I've been able to plumb... I'm sure I'll be on here a lot this summer!

A couple photos to satisfy your insatiable hunger for pics, these will have to do until I can take my own next week!

I just picked mine up two days ago so I'm a fellow noob. Just wait until you ride it :)

Which model/year did you acquire. Your bike info needs updating...And both of you welcome to the era of wider grins.

800 miles? Handle it? Hell, that's just a run around the block for this bike. You will have to stop for gas, though.

Congrats on the new aquisition! You are gonna love it! :yahoo:

Great Deal! Congrats! Welcome to the Club from West Palm Beach. :clapping: How far are you from Owosso?

What ever you do, stay away from a guy named Bustanut joker. That man needs Therapy!!

Congrats on your new ride, BTW the bike can handle 800 miles the question is can your butt handle it on the stock seat.

I got the 2012 which isn't listed for profile update. Until that's changed I'll look like a FJRwannabe.

Got the same exact bike. Going out to Ohio for vacation. Should do 2,000 miles. Great bike, you`ll love it. Lou D

Do the throttle spring unwind. Big difference. LD
Wow everyone, thanks for the warm welcome! Very excited to be part of this group and this is exactly why... won't even pick it up till next Friday and already I've got att-boys, hi-fives, and recommendations for tweaking my Feejer! :yahoo:

It already comes with a Valentine 1 mount so I'm good to go there, all I need is a RAM mount for my Garmin and I'm set for the long haul. ;) I'll post a few pics when I pick it up, first time I've done a fly-n-drive so we'll see how it goes.

Thanks Lou for the tech tip, I'll look up how to do the throttle spring unwind and that might be my first mod. This bike has had every recall except for the "ground spider" update, the owner said he hadn't received any notice of a recall on his '06. I'm pretty darn mechanical and handy myself, so I may just skip my "stealership" and do Brodie's harness mod instead. I don't want to keep worrying about my FJR dying on a long trip somewhere because the dealer didn't do a good job on the repair.

Great bike, same as mine, just make sure the ignition switch and grounding recalls are done ASAP

I have the Brodies harness,it's much better than the Yamaha update harness

Lots of other good updates to be found here.

congrats
