I'm not sure if this was the site, but there's a particular group of hobbyists that have the US Govt. a bit annoyed because they use simple math to keep track of where a satellite will appear and when...

... even the covert satellites.

That's cool. I do depot maintenance on the GEODSS sites that collect much of the data for the satellite orbits. This article has some info about them if you're interested (but it gets a little deep at times).

If you lie on the beach in Puerto Penasco Mexico at night, you can watch the satellites passing over traveling from south to north...It's pretty cool.
