When I bought my bike it only had 1 key. My bike is an '03 and the micro fiche didn't show one. But my '04 R1 key would fit, but just wasn't keyed to it. So I got a couple of those! Works great and Identical! Here the P/N # 4BH-82511-09. About $6 if I remember right. You will have to get somewhere to cut it. ACE Hardware did mine for a $1.

I got mine here: Key Men.

I gave them the key code from the silver tag, they cut me two new keys, and I had within a few days. Hard to beat, IMO, for about $18 delivered to my door.

I just went to ACE hardware today and had two spare keys made up. They had the blanks and it only cost $3.98 for the two. Now to find a place to hide one.

Yeah, they had those, but I have a thing about keys not being and looking OEM. I think I had $12 in 2 of them. Either way you can get keys made!

They are just spares. Why pay more?

I made some special keys that stay in my saddlebag locks, I just cut the keys down and gorrilla glued them to a radio shack knob. They are cut too small to fit into the ignition to start the bike, but they work just fine to unlock the seat. So guess where the spare key is? Of course I take the SB keys with me when I park in an unknown area so people will leave my shit in my SB's alone because crack isn't all that cheap :D

Simce everyone is looking for a place to store or hide there key, just send them to me for safe keeping, until needed . hen I will ups them to you when needed. :yahoo:

There are no $.99 cent keys here in Woodland only $7.00and up not cheap to live here.

Always carry extra keys . I.D information, in case somethig happens. contact information, Phone numbers, address, medical information, and most of all leave on cross country trips I leave all the information about the trip, and motorcycle, type color, license ,insurance carrier anything that will help.

Doesn't the key have some sort of immobiliser function.

I got two keys PLUS a RED one.

I found a good place on a 2006 to hide a spare key. I put it in a small fabric hide-a-key pouch and use velcro to put it in an out of the way place. I am hesitant to mention the hiding place here, but if you send me a message, I'll tell you. A hint... earlier models don't have this place.

In case someone is wondering about the little fabric pouches attached with velcro, I've used one for years on my cage in a hiding place exposed to the weather and it works very well.

I also keep an extra key for the Givi in the tool kit on my bike. I'm glad I do. I lost the original key during a trip and it wasn't a big deal since I had the spare with me.
Randy,

Isn't your tool kit locked under the seat???

I have a spare key for my GIVI V46 which was made by a locksmith in Lake City, FL. The blank is Taylor X76 and the flip side says 'fits Yamaha'.

The key is small and flat without the big plastic thing Givi puts on their keys so it fits easily in my wallet.

You can easily hide a key, even on a 2003. That way you'll always have it with you, when you need it!

I put my spare in a location i will never forget and also place it with something I always have with me while i ride. And its not my wallet,,, for if someone jacks my bike they may try and get my wallet too... So I put my spare in my old beat up smelly oil stained 210,000 mile jacket. Its the only thing I have no one will take. :D
