I know there are a zillion threads on the topic, and I've read most of them. More confused than anything. So let me try this...

If you have a Gen-II, and are about my height (5'8" with 31" inseam) and ride with the saddle in the lower position, and have found an outstanding solution to the buffeting problem, and only if all of the foregoing apply, please share it with me. Givi? VStream? Cee Bailey? CalSci? Regular or reverse-contour? And how has it affected your pillion, if applicable?

I find riding with the stocker all the way up almost tolerable, but if I duck down a couple more inches, things become blissfully quiet (and, obviously, fatally uncomfortable).

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

How about if I am really close to that size but not "all of the foregoing"? You do realize that posture, bar risers, custom/aftermarket seats will also skew your survey?

I am 5'8 and 1/2", 32 inch inseam and when I ride Dad's FJR, I ride with the seat in the lowest position. His seat is a Laam Custom that does not seem much different in height from OEM. He has the Heli-Bar Bridge installed, bars rotated to about the mid position.

We are running the Cee Bailey +2+2 reverse contour in a light gray tint. We both think it is perfect. Pop is taller than I am but has a 30 inch inseam and we still both agree on this shield. Not only does it work wonderfully, it looks fantastic on the bike.

For a little more background, this is the third Cee Bailey we tried. The first was a +4 wide +2 tall standard contour clear. We really liked that shield, it was much better than stock. The second was a +4+4 reverse contour, clear. It was just too big. It worked well but there was no longer any need for the electric adjustment and Pop hated the way it looked.

A few pics of the +2+2 reverse contour Cee Bailey:

I really should post the other two shields for sale here, just have not had time.

I'm 5'9 with 31 inseam. I have MCL risers triple clamp and a Sargent seat on my 07; and, Motorrad riser with Laam seat on the 11. Cee Bailey 2+2 reverse flip in light tint on both. My buddy is about the same height and has the same shield on his 05 with a Russell seat. My experince is similar to Redfish Hunter and I like these shields. Be aware that the reverse flip is meant to look over not through (top couple inches with flip causes distortion. I raise it just below my sight line if I want quiet and it works well. If you want to look through the shield, get a flat shield. I have a v-stream and it works well also; however, the top of the shield flexes and dances around at Hwy speed.

Have a look and here..

So, a question for those with the CB reverse flip, especially those also that have experience with a similar shield without the flip.

Something that I'd like to know and I assume the OP would too:

Do you think that the flip adds any turbulence to the wind coming off the top of the shield? I have heard through the grapevine that this may be true.

I had a CB normal contour on the 1st gen, and liked it a lot. I will also be soon looking at shields soon (for my 3rd gen) and was thinking of sticking with the normal contour but noticed a couple of votes for the flip.

My body size is much larger than what is being discussed here (6'2") so my dimensions wouldn't help, sorry.

I certainly agree windshields are subjective, just like seats, etc.

Regarding Fred's question about the reverse flip. My experince is that it channels the air up over your helmet nicely (if you adjust the shield up below your sight line). There is some minor buffeting at chest level but I found it to be the same as a Vstream which has no flip. My preference is to look over the screen, not through it, so the CB 2+2 is the best I've tried. With your height, you will probably want to go with a taller shield than the +2. With the +2, I adjust the windshield 3/4 of the way up for the sweet spot (I'm 5'9"). This shield would certainly be too short for you. Regarding width, the +2 width send the air just past the ends of the the bars. Hope this helps some.

I have to say that Bustanut is completely correct. Just because I like it does not mean someone else will like it. We all sit a bit differently and we all want something different.

Pop says that the +2+2 reverse contour shield allows him to have complete control over his airflow. He can get a decent cooling wind without noise or buffeting with the shield down or sit in a still, quiet air pocket while still being able to see over the shield. He does not like to look through the shield. He has mentioned less buffeting with this shield.

I know I have to clean the bugs off my helmet visor 2 to 3 times more often than he does and my ST blocks much more wind than the OEM FJR shields.
