Speeder Hides by Burrowing Into Ground

Fri Jan 4, 9:28 PM EST

SEATTLE — A man who was stopped for speeding nearly evaded state troopers by burrowing into soft ground along Highway 169 and covering himself with dirt and leaves.

Trooper Jeff Merrill said the man, 20, hid for nearly an hour Wednesday and sent a text message to his girlfriend to pick him up. Officers caught him when he scrambled from his hole.

The was jailed in Kent. He had outstanding arrest warrants for failing to appear in court on charges of marijuana possession, harassment and drunken driving.

Now THERE's a good idea! <_< (he just didn't wait long enough)

I once covered the bike and me with brush by riding into a bush and staying in there for hours...

I hid in a house under construction, once. Drove into the garage and pulled the door down and stayed in there for several hours until the heat was off...so to speak..... :D :D :D

Hmmmm...but mine was a house "for rent", and it was a loooong time ago, driving my '57 T-bird, being young and foolish.....

"Those were the days my friend........"

A little off topic but this reminded me of when I was in a bar in Maine once a couple of years ago chatting with a chopper dude that had rolled in and he told me that if my bike ever breaks down up there on one of the desolate, deserted back road areas I "better bury it". I said, "what exactly do you mean by bury it"? He said, "just what it sounds like, you dig a hole and bury the bike and cover it with leaves and **** so nobody will steal it before you get back with help". At first I thought he was just yanking my chain but the more our conversation progressed I realized that he was serious...

So of course when my ignition went out in the backwoods of Maine over the summer my first thought was where the fook am I going to find a shovel!

Back to our regularly scheduled thread.

I whipped into someone's driveway to evade the police once. We waited for about 10 minutes, then left and never saw a cop. Never thought about burying my car.

I'd go for one of those Harry Potter "invisibility cloaks," but can't find one big enough for both me and the bike. Anyway, nobody sees us most of the time as it is. Except the cops, of course.

That would be easy to do on Maple Valley Hwy. At this time of year there is lots of down vegetation and the ground is soft in many places along there. This wasn't you Tim, was it? :laughingsmiley:
