So, she gives you a huge break (5 over - small fine, probably no permanent record vs 26 over, automatic impound and jail in most locations in GA) and you ask if she's calibrated her radar? I'd of been polishing her wheel covers and picking up any trash I saw in the area.

Well, in NY they will keep this on his record for three years, and his insurance company for his cage will remember it for five years, Still, I think the young lady gave a pretty good deal making it five over.

There is a new law in NY regarding tickets given by troopers. The trooper is not allowed to negotiate a lesser charge in court.

Ya' should have asked her out... unless she had a ring on.

(hint) Practice batting eyes or crying - works good on female LEO's - but not so good on the male ones. ;)

Well that sorta sux. Georgia uses a point system. Most moving violations give you points on your record. If you accumulate enough points, you get suspended. Points drop off after some time.

Speeding less than 15 over is zero points. So the state doesn't even want county and municipal departments to report tickets for less than 15 over, although they can if they want to. Most don't. On the other hand, some jurisdictions specialize in tickets for 14 over since most people will just pay them knowing that it won't even end up on you MVR. Sort of a user fee, I guess. In fact, my SO got one yesterday, as part of a group of six cars all stopped at once, all cited for 59 in a 45.

In Texas, you can take a defensive driving class, pay the fine, and never have the ticket touch your record.

In Cali also, but you can only get one ticket expunged per 18 months. The type of offense also comes into play. I think you lose the privelege to take the class for anything more than 20 over the posted speed limit. I'm sure there are other restrictions/limitations (e.g. dui) also.

Let me clarify the situation in NY. You get a ticket and it awards you a certain mynber of points against your license, After 12 points you become a pedestrian. You can take a driver's safety course and get some points removed, once a year, but they still keep the offense on your record.
