Lewis Hamilton led pretty much from the start. The race was started on wet tyres. McLaren were gambling on leaving the change to dry tyres late enough to prohibit the need for another stop. The gamble backfired and Hamilton overshot a slow bend on the entry to the pit lane and beached in a gravel trap.

Kimi Raikkonen in the Ferrari won with Hamilton's team mate Alonso second. This leaves the title within reach of all 3 drivers in the final round in Brazil on 21st. October.

EDIT: Lewis Hamilton : ''You can't go through life without making mistakes, I am over it now, lets get on with Brazil''

The words of a champion. How dissapointed must he have been, and how well adjusted to be able to say that a couple of hours later?

I was watching that before i went to bed last night. Just a couple feet away from his first championship. Now he's gotta earn it.

Lewis is still in a position of decided advantage. If he takes 1st or 2nd, he wins. If he takes 3rd, he needs to keep Alonso out of 1st. And if Alonso has the car to take 1st, then I doubt Hamilton would have too much difficulty taking 2nd.

If you assume the McLarens and Ferraris take the top four positions (which has happened with few exceptions this year), then 83% of the possible finishing scenarios have Hamilton taking the championship.

Realistically, Alonso (and to a tiny extent Raikkonen) have to hope for a mechanical DNF or another big mistake from Lews again. Otherwise, they're toast.
