Looks pretty competitive....Stoner ran the race of his life so far. And he has the bike to beat. Plain outran Rossi. And what is up with Nicky? Fun race and I like the sounds from the new 800cc bikes.........

ADD: Nice to see Ducati on top again...just want Rossi to come on later in the season

I like Rossi less and less, he is irritating, and so obviously gay. I have nothing against that but it would be much more interesting if he came out. Imagine having a gay motor racing champ!!

If that Ducati wasn't rocket powered Rossi would have won by a mile, if Ducati lose that edge as the season progresses things will change. Stoner is good, but I cant help thinking its because he could just pull out and drive past that he won the race.

If memory serves me correctly, Stoner was a rookie last year and a darned good one. He had the superior bikein this race, especially in the straights. Rossi's Yamaha couldn't get near him except in a couple turns.

As for Rossi (or anybody else) being gay or not: never thought about it and couldn't care less. His skill as a rider is amazing. And in the post-race interview he said the bike was a "good place to start [the season]." I think he has confidence the bike will evolve. Interesting to me that he chose hard compound front and rear tires and Stoner chose Medium front and rear.

I'm really surprised the Hondas didn't do all that well, and that Pedrosa had the faster bike over Nicky -- what's up with that?

I remember watching Stoner when he was 15, a race got stopped at Cadwell Park when he crashed heavily on a 125. He is very underated I think and will do well. I still think that without the obvious power advantage that the Ducati had he would not have been near Rossi.

Re Rossi being gay, I don't care iether, its just that he makes so many statements in his approach. His helmet changes so often and there is always some deep meaning to the design, all this crap about the fox and the rabbit, and he avoids the obvious one that stands out (to British fans more and more) that there has never been a girl on his arm, nor mentioned in his book. For a guy in his position surely he would have a vast choice of top babes. I know, I know, it has nothing to do with racing...or me for that matter, its just as I say, he likes to shout about certain things....thats what makes him irritating.

I am not by any means decrying the guys talent, it will be a long long time before we see the like again.

I am sure that he and Jerry Burgess will 'evolve' the bike as they always do. He would have won last year if it were down to skill alone and luck had no part to play.

Re the tyres, maybe it just proves it is not as critical as is made out, maybe Rossi had another 10 laps left in his, maybe the 2 bikes/riding styles rquired different compounds?

Nicky/Danni There is a significant weight difference between the 2 which will be more critical on the 800's, having said that, Rossi is not far behind Hayden on weight......but Rossi is Rossi, he rides round anything!!

Hayden 152 lbs

Pedrosa 112 lbs

Stoner 128 lbs

Rossi 148 lbs
