Crap...I'd love to do this. I live in Winchester and I'd like to get out meet you guys. I leave for VIR that evening for the Superbike class the next day. Maybe I'll still do it...will see.

So........who else will be in Winchester on Sunday? :dntknw:
I am planning on going but the weather reports are still pretty irratic. yesterday it was looking like maybe a morning sprinkle, today accuweather is calling for saturday thunderstorms in the afternoon and partly cloudy on Sunday. that seems ridable to me but I am a puss about water; i dont like drool on me head.

:dribble:

:angry2:

The ride is on rain or shine. I'll be there. Should know by tomorrow if I'm gonna be spending the night Saturday, but, it's looking pretty good that I will.

Thanks to all who came out for the ride. Final count was about 30 bikes - quite short of what we were hoping for, but, I know the rain kept many away. We only got about 20 minutes of dry riding in before the skies opened up and soaked us. I pulled out after about an hour and headed for home - poured the whole way.

Maybe the north ride in August will be better.

Hey Randy, it was nice to meet you, hope we will get to ride with you at the North get together. Tom & I made it home around 1:30. Same with us we rode about an hour then headed home, man did we get rained on till about Somerset then it never rained again. All in all the weekend was well worth an few hours of rain. We will see you at the North ride.

Randy, nice to meet you too. jim and tom, as always what a blast! at least Saturday :) . Hope you all lliked the pizza at senica rocks (you know i did). Actually I ahve to say although the rain was biblical on SR 50 and the winds... well they were biblical too but after the water soaked in I got into my groove and the ride was actually quite nice and I was sad to see it end. I will post an image ASAP.

PS Dick really had a ball playing with you tom. Now you know why I like to ride with the old dog

When we finished with Smoke Hole road Dick says to me; “You’re pretty fast for a middle age guy on a touring bike.” I about fell over like the guy on the tricycle on Laugh In.

He is quite an inspiration at 70+ years old, we all can only hope to be pushing & enjoying life like that when & if we reach that age.

I’ve been fortunate enough to be raised in a racing family & Jim’s dad (my uncle) who just recently passed away, was that same type of person. Always competing (at anything) & living life to the fullest.

A funny thing I learned from him a long time ago & still find myself doing when riding with other people is paying attention to when the person with you shifts gears. My uncle Jim would be riding along casually & after any corner or stop he would wait for you to short shift & then he would blast by or pull away from you like you were stopped. So you would find yourself keeping your bike in 1st or 2nd gear & watching the mirror if in front, or positioning yourself to watch his throttle hand or clutch lever to make sure he up-shifted before you so he didn’t catch you sleeping.

I can still see his smiling face in the mirror just waiting for me to shift first.

RIP Jim Bickerstaff
