I just received an email with a SPOT discount code. $50 for the year includes basic tracking. Seems like a good deal. It also seems like it is too good to be true. it is a please come back to SPOT code. I had service initially then I shut it off.

Thoughts?

I took advantage of this deal. I got the basic service again. When I update my system, I was able to change the timestamp as well. Something I could not do before.

Is the code a one use only? I bought a Spot 3 lightly used a while back and have been itching to get it activated.......

Thanks, Chuck

The email mentions that it is a unique code. It doesn't mean it is tied to my account or even my SPOT. I will be using it though. Sorry. At least you know the price others are getting - maybe that provides a bit of negotiating power.

Thanks Graler. I sent Spot an email a couple of weeks ago and told them to count me out for renewal this year. Service had gone up to $179 for the past couple of years. They replied and offered a $50 "loyalty credit" if I renewed within 5 days. Really? Playing hard ball with me? Based on the info you provided, i just sent them an email and told them I would renew basic service for $50 if they would extend that offer to me. If not, I'm out.
