This sat. at 6am I will be starting my first ironbutt ride. Leaving st pete,fl and in essence traveling south, east, north, west, and then south to st pete. Wish me luck. Everett

Good undies, stay hydrated, stay alert, and don't lose your receipts.

Good luck! Git-R-Dun!

I did two SS1K's before I found about 'wicking' underwear... Boy I wish I'd known ! Well, stand up in the breeze for a few minutes & the problem is taken care of, as long as you aren't using weatherproof (windproof) pants. Get lots of shut-eye beforehand, don't drink coffee early on because you'll have to stop lots, & keep the meals small. Use a small notebook as a log & do a small writeup at all stops, have a safe place to stash all receipts. Write mileage on the back of all the receipts. Carry a couple of writing implements in case you lose one.

Enjoy !

My best SS1K ever was one in which I had to stop to pee more than I had to stop for gas. Hydrate. I don't know 'bout everyone else but hydration is one thing that keeps me in the game big time.

Stay alert. Have fun. Ride the bike.

Ride the bike.

Good luck. Water and snacks at every stop, keep yourself from zoning out by working math problems or something similar in your head. Good luck on ya, and have fun!

Well it is Sunday night and I completed the ss1000 last night. Left at 6am and puled in at 1030pm. I was last out and 2nd one in. It has been such a beautiful weekend it was almost impossible not to enjoy the ride. All the farkles kicked in and worked sell. The russell seat, the grip puppies, power commander, triple clamp by heli, and no way can I leave out wild bills highway pegs which were an absolute lifesaver. When I ordered them months ago and received them and held them up to the bike I did not think they were going to work very well. In fact I did not install them until last week and they were fantastic. Usually my knees end up killing me on a long ride and nothing seemed to help other than to stop and walk around. Not now. I pulled in after the 1050 miles and hopped off the bike and felt really good. In fact I just got back from another 400 mile ride today going to the Leesburg Bike Fest. I rode my fz6 to that and my butt hurts and knees etc. Anyway the ride was great, the highway pegs fantastic and the bike super. Thanks for all your suggestions. Everett
