Picked this up the other day...

'78 XS 750 triple... only has 15,450 kms (less than 10,000 miles) and is in absolutely beautiful condition. :yahoo:

Rode her home the other night, and that exhaust note from the triple is intoxicating :)

Will do the checks to baseline the maintenance (change fluids, filters, plugs, check all fasteners, etc) tomorrow. Will post up a report once I've had her out on a real ride.

Great stuff canuckelhead! To think that the original owners just had the bike sit in the garage and never rode it much makes it valuable later on. Our FJR's will never be 'valuable' by that definition....

Silent, on this board, has a great thread about restoring Madmike2's old XS.. lots of info about parts, servicing, etc on it..

What a beautiful blast from the past. I'm sure it's fairly rare too. I think it was only made 2 yrs.

That year's 750 triple was the first new bike I ever test drove.

I didn't qualify for the loan.

No doubt a good thing as I really needed to stay off bikes back then.

I'm sure it will get lots of attention wherever you go. Nice!

Thanks guys... I'm very pleased with this as my first "vintage" ride.

Thanks for the heads-up Don, I'll do a search for Silent's thread.

I remember them from when I was in highschool... a Japanese Trident... except the XS had DOHC, good carbs, a real electrical system, and didn't leak all over your garage floor :)

Took her for a short spin this morning... gotta love that triple sound :)

Not a fan of the funky "buckhorn" style handlebars, so they will be changed to something more standard.

I'm gonna have fun with this :yahoo:
