Stainless Steel Oil Filter - Am I going overboard?

Got out Mr. VISA today and ordered Grip Puppies and a Throttle Rocker 2 - both low cost items. Then I saw this, a stainless steel reusable oil filter. I guess I'm a sucker for good copy cause I bought one. Then I visited the manufacturer's site for still more enticing reading material.

So, is it money well spent or not?

I'm not looking to justify (or maybe I am)... I just don't want to waste a C note on crap. Can you give me the reasoning behind the no-no's? (I can cancel before I pop a second beer.)

Thanks a bunch for the research. I have to admit I was getting tempted seeing these metal filters, but held off due to being a cheap SOB. Now I can feel better blowing the $$ on other add ons.
