Looking for startermotor for 2002 fjr 1300 any ideas where to get one complete.

Very expensive new quoted 650euros thanks

Have you tried searching on e(vil)-bay?

Might be worth trying somewhere like this

Also worth trying the the FJR Club Workshop here The guy who looks after FJRs is Ernie (Ernie (FJ Owners Club) <[email protected]>)

Hope some of that helps

If you don't find one nearby, there's one on US ebay right now for $90 + shipping, taken off an 04 which should fit, I think.

Clicky

He wants ~ $125 for UPS international shipping to Ireland, but maybe some kind soul will agree to forward it to you as a favor. I've done this in the past for some friends in the UK and the republic of Ireland who wanted stuff off US ebay from sellers who weren't willing to ship directly, or who charged extortionate prices.

When I needed one a couple years ago I found one via the internet at a salvage yard for $90 shipped. But that was a difficult process.

Best bet is ebay. I've seen them go for as little as $45.

Another good bet is to find a shop that rewinds automotive alternators and starters. They will be able to replace bearings, brushes, turn the commutator, rewire the motor as necessary and test the finished assembly. You will get back a 'good as new' starter, usually with a warranty for the same price or less than a used starter with shipping costs.

If you were in the US you could get a rebuilt starter with a 1 year warranty from Rick's Motorsport Electrics for $175. They would require that you return to them the old defective starter.

How do you find one of those? I still have my old 'bad' starter. I am getting close to just throwing the darn thing away.
