UPDATED: Fully assimilated now... :D

I'm starting to look a little more seriously for FJR's now that my Fizzer should be back on the road this weekend (long story..involves mis-printed torque values and hub studs). Still split on whether to go the easy way and just trade it in or sell it myself...anyway, Ron Ayers has a 2007 A model with a touch over 14k on it and the gray stripe graphic paint job. They're asking $10,599, that seem too high or, with the low miles, reasonable? I need to get a better feel on the prices...they seem to swing all over the place here, lol. I figure I'm stuck going through a dealer since I'll likely need to finance it partially.

Probably going to go drool over it this afternoon, lol.

Don't take it for a test ride unless you plan on buying it. It can almost be love at first sight, or first ride.

I'm no expert on FJR pricing, but given this flat market it looks high to me by about a grand. Other have more knowledge and there are plenty of other threads here that discuss pricing. Also, check out the forum classifieds for used FJRs and of course Cycle Trader, Craigs List and other usual sources like NADA, Kelly's, etc.

Heh, yea, based on what I've read here over the past couple years, that seems to almost always be the case. The wife (financial committee) won't be with me on the visit this afternoon, so chances of test ride/purchase are pretty much nil, lol.

I looked at NADA and they're a whisker over the stated value for '07's; they're way over by KBB standards. It looks like it may have some slight farkling on it as I can see what looks like a Motivation slider peeking out in the one pic they show. Guess I'll see what else is on it this afternoon.

There are many issues in play here: dealer resources (generally a plus); ability to take your 'Fizzer' on trade; difference in sales tax (paid only on the 'difference'); proximity (they're close).... gets hard to 'compare' when just calling-out prices.

If you're trading-in?, focus the the 'difference' -- IOW, if they're asking full (used) retail for their bike?, they should offer you full trade-in (at least) for yours (provided it meets all the condition criteria...).

Additions/modifications/accessories/'farkels' (generally) don't contribute too much to a bike's value -- at least only a small percent of their original cost.

Good luck.

Daytona BMW (Florida) has an '07A with CCS-100 installed, 12,191 miles for $8995 + whatever extra. That's the price on the website (www.bmworlando.com), but I'm fairly sure they had it on Ebaymotors for $8495 a week or so back. Might be worth the trip.

Wish I'd seen that...was just down in Florida over New Years and was actually looking to stop in at a few dealers, but simply didn't have time on my side (all the weird holiday hours).

I'm definitely keeping my eyes open, just gotta get down to brass tacks and see what's going to work best. :D

good luck; I wish I had seen this deal when I was looking, but, I did get a good deal on my new '09A.

Get that FJR! After 30 yrs on HD's, I made the switch (still have the old dresser) and , I gotta admit, I like riding the FJR better everyday. Still in the farlkling stage...

Stopped by Ron Ayers to have a look and it was a beauty! I didn't see any scratches or blemishes on it. Original owner was a retired police officer who traded it in because he just wanted to try a Connie. Billet throttle lock, VStream windscreen, and rear suspension lowered one inch...very nice feeling bike. Bike popped right up on center-stand despite the lowered suspension.

Now I'm considering whether or not to brave the 25-30 degree weather and take my FZ6 in for an evaluation...and then figuring out some sort of financial arrangement. ;)

May or may not get this one, but it was nice to drool over for an hour. Flawless machine.

Now, it is quite difficult to value farkles, but I think I've heard of people getting leftover 08s for that sort of money.

When I was looking at my 07, new, in late 07, I asked what they'd sell it for and they said 11k.

Heck, right now, with just over 11k miles, I'd sell my 07 for 10 in a heartbeat, with the knowledge I'd be able to get a black one...

Burnspot, to give you another data point, my '07a was listed for $10.5K by the Honda stealer in August and they dropped it to $8.9K in Sept. I picked it up for $8.4 and it had a Vstream, Givi trunk, and Corbin rider seat with 3300 on the clock. In large part, the stealer price is driven by how long the bike has been in inventory. You know the stealer low balled the seller so he probably has about $7-7.5K in the bike.

Good luck in your quest!

Yea, I think it's overpriced. Gonna hold off a couple weeks and work on selling my FZ6 first, then go from there.

Good luck with the sale of your FZ6. When you find the right one, you won't be disappointed with the FJR...Guaranteed! :D

For $1,500 more you can get a NEW 2009! $11,999 (total, out the door) at D&H in Cullman Alabama.

Yep, that's definitely on my mind...I've always thought about doing D&H, plus it'd give me a good "test" ride back home, lol. Just gotta shift my FZ6 and a few items around the house and I'll be in business. I need to get one before spring rolls around, while interest ebbs during the cold season.

Took my FZ6 out on a ride yesterday (32deg weather) to make sure things were good to go before putting it up for sale. Twas cold, lol.

Finally got my FZ6 up for sale on Craigslist...I'll try it there first and then move to additional pastures if nothing pans out. I seem to have pretty good luck with Craigslist, so who knows. The "committee" laid out some new requirements that call for no financing, just straight up cash from selling my other toys...that'll slow me down a bit, lol, but I figure I can probably save up enough to have an '05 or '06 in the stable by late spring. :D
