Finally got my FZ6 up for sale on Craigslist...I'll try it there first and then move to additional pastures if nothing pans out. I seem to have pretty good luck with Craigslist, so who knows. The "committee" laid out some new requirements that call for no financing, just straight up cash from selling my other toys...that'll slow me down a bit, lol, but I figure I can probably save up enough to have an '05 or '06 in the stable by late spring. :D
Assimilated! Today, when I got home from work, my wife was like "We've got all afternoon, why don't we drive down to Greenville and look at that motorcycle you keep harping about and while we're there, we'll hit the local TJ Maxx and Ross." Naturally, I agreed and so began the day of awesomeness, lol. About 45 minutes later, we were walking into Ron Ayers and I made a beeline right over to the 2007 A model I'd been eyeballing for a couple of weeks. My wife immediately loved the look of it (she'd only seen photos online), but then soon asked about beginner women riders and was directed over to the Rebels and V-Star cruisers. I figured nothing much more was going to happen except get her interested in learning how to ride... I was WRONG.

After messing around with the starter bikes, she proposed that we attempt to make a deal on the 2007 I was drooling over...I let her take the reins from there (she's a financing person) and starting wheeling and deeling. At the end of it all, the result was a "Happy Birthday" from her and a signed contract in our hands!! No trade-in, just a couple grand down (still selling my FZ6 on my own). Okay, so perhaps $10k OTD might be a pip high, but WTH, I now own a 2007 FJR1300A and that's all that needs to be said. :yahoo:

Unfortunately, I have to wait until tomorrow to pick it up thanks to NOT expecting to buy today and not having enough time to run home, grab gear, and get back before they closed. But I'm completely jazzed. :D

Looks like my wife will probably do a beginner's MSF class later this year as well...so wins all around today.

More pics to come tomorrow after I get 'er home.

I like the burgundy with the gray stripes, looks sharp.

So why not keep the fizzer for her to learn on? I have one and under 7 grand you know how docile it is, nice up right bike.

Now once she learns how to ride it above 7 grand say goodbye cause no way that Feejeer will keep up with a FZ6 in the twistys.

I can vouch for Doug on that one! He has shown us on our FJR's, not to mess with an FZ6 in the twisties!
Well, the wife's probably not going to like the twitchy FZ6, lol. She's intimidated by it and wouldn't imagine riding it at the moment; she really liked the little V-Star she sat on. She does not want something too powerful and something like that little V-Star or a Rebel would probably work out just right I think.

Besides, the edict has come down that the FZ6 must be sold. :D Not gonna argue with the one who facilitated today's deal. ;)

My wife sort of went through the same thing where she didn't ever mention wanting to learn to ride- and then one weekend she took the MSF class out of nowhere and was hooked.

I bought her a Ninja 250 and she did awesome- took to riding way quicker than I did. We just upgraded her to a Kawasaki ER-6N (the Naked 650 ninja) and she took to that like a duck to water:) The benefit of learning on a Ninja 250 is it is so light and flickable that you don't get intimidated. The ER-6N has a low enough seat that she can touch (most bikes aren't made for avg women).

Good luck and happy riding- together :D

I think the only possible obstacle would be my wife's "new driver" status; she's a recent Chinese immigrant and the insurance rate for her driving a car is astronomical for the next 3 years (damn NC laws)...to say the very very least. I couldn't imagine what her insurance would be for a bike (I'd need an ambulance standing by at the agents office when I have a heart attack). Wouldn't hurt to get her through the course though.

Anyway, that's later, the now is transferring my GPS and Battery Tender gear to the new stablemate tomorrow night...after wringing her out a bit. :D

I hear you, got to keep the Chief Financial Officer happy. That little star is nice or it may be easier to find a used Rebel
