Well, I have this pup all torn apart and a couple of questions come to mind. Please forgive the ignorance on my part.

First, does it matter how the three wires get hooked up? They seem undifferentiated on the new stator. If it does matter, which goes where?

Second, I'm wondering if a cleaner and much simpler wiring installation could be had by cannibalizing the OEM harness. Don't disconnect anything but cut and splice in new connectors toward the bottom of the harness using a hitachi plug or other robust connector....

Thoughts/Suggestions?

P.S. F_cking with the wiring harness was a real pain!!!

Wire sequence doesn't matter on a stator.

Cannibalizing the OEM harness is fine but [opinion] this is one time where soldering the wires is almost a necessity and you should avoid connectors [/opinion] You want as few splices as possible between the stator and regulator

Personally, I counsel against cannibalizing your existing wire connector. Here's why:

If the old stator is still good (other than being rated at 490-watts), you should keep it "whole" and intact, should you ever need to use it again, or want to sell it to another forum member, etc.

Didn't your new stator not already have three female spade connectors attached to the ends of your three white stator output wires?, If so, just connect them up like this:

Yep, the new stator came with the female connectors. I'm being lazy, dreading trying to thread that big plug backward through the frame. Ugggh.

Without question, threading that massive connector through the engine bay is a huge ass-pain, and is the hardest part of doing this farkle. That's another "plus" (if you will) of having just the female connectors ends with this new stator, as it makes snaking them up to the Regulator/Rectifier a piece of cake compared to doing the same with that big-ass connector.
