Just wondering if anyone knows the outside diameter of the steering nuts under the triple tree. The ones you tighten to adjust your bearings.

Thanks Rich

I don't know, but I wouldn't try and tighten them with a socket from Sears. They take a special tool either Yamaha sells or some tools a forum member made years ago.

The cap itself is listed in the Bin O Facts.

They are C-Spanner nuts. You can source the tool, usually on eBay, for about $30. It takes a torque wrench.

If you can't find it let me know and I'll give you the email addy of the guy who makes it.

Thanks guys, i know its a special nut and there are torque values for the upper and lower nut. I was going to make my own tool for the nut and was looking for the outside diameter so i had a starting point before i took my bike apart. Just looking for the oitside diameter of the "castel nut like" nut.

This steering nut wears 32" waist paints. And I quickly regain my bearings anytime I sit under the three trees in my back yard. But I'm not sure that's what you were asking.
