I have an E55. The plastic straps that keep the lid from opening too far are so stiff and bent that the lid has to be held open lest it come crashing down on your arm while getting things in or out of the case.

My plan right now is to get some wire fishing leaders of the appropriate length and give that a try.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

On my E52, I removed one of the straps and that helped. I noticed it was mainly an issue in the colder temps. Hot summertime they flex more and allow the lid to stay open. Good idea on the fishing line.

Use a hair drier to heat up evenly and streach it, and keep tension on it till it cools.

My E55 has metal hinged brackets with an indentation to keep the lid from closing on its own.. My E52 has plastic straps, but Givi sells replacement straps that are basically nylon ropes within a plastic tube and they are much better than the straight plastic ones.
