Write-off? Or worth fixing?
Is the wet spot under the engine something leaking or wet pavement?

Even if it is OK mechanically, it gets expensive really quickly when you start replacing bags and body panels.

Clay,

Sorry to hear this. Such a loss can be a gut punch. Here's hoping for a good insurance settlement for you. Give them a list of your "upgrades", to increase that settlement deal; it will convince them that the bike was well-maintained, and worth more than the blue book says. Here's hoping that you find a better bike soon as a result.

The insurance will probably write off the bike as a total loss. Depending on the value (to you) of what remains, you may be able to buy the bike back from the insurance company for some price. Negotiate for that price, if you decide to buy it back. The insurance folks probably do not want to deal with selling it to outsiders. Best wishes.
