Storage compartment on an 03?

Anyone ever put a 04+ storage compartment on an 03? Will it fit on the left side panel area? I do not care if it locks when turned on or off, just that it will close

Alex did but I'm not sure if he replaced all the body work or just the part with the storage compartment.

Wow. If Alex did that, I'll have to check out how he did it. You'd have to move a lot of crap, including the fuse box. There's just not much room under there.

Very easy to do but not cheap..... Go to the Yamaha parts website https://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/myyamaha.../starthere.aspx and look up the LH fairing panel and glovebox assembly for an 04 and order from University Motors for best price. Keep in mind that you will have to paint the fairing panel bright silver to match your 03 because it will come in a later model year color from an 04 or 05. You can order all the screws and un-locking solenoid also if you want or just not bother and get only the glove box assembly and disable the lock mechanism.

There is really no issue at all with the fuse box and wiring in the area.

I did this to mine and have seen several other 03's with the glovebox retrofitted. It really doesn't give you much space so the expense is high for what you get but it is handy for things like a cel phone or wallet you want to keep at hand.

I installed mine with the factory un-locking solenoid but wired it to a hidden "secret" push button switch so that the lid is locked for most practical circumstances but I can open it at will be touching the button for the solenoid.

I just chose another location, that's all.
