Straight Pipe

Anyone ever run there FJR with the pipes off, just for fun I was wondering how loud it is?

I'm assuming that anyone who put on aftermarket can's tried to start the bike mid-switch-out just to see, right??

Nope. I was really tempted to add some flex pipe in place of the oe's when I was installing my D&D's, and go for a ride, just to play with the local yokels, but never did it.

I fired mine up open when doing the swingarm. It sounded FIERCE! It's simple to pop the cans and worth the trouble, IMHO.

Haven't heard an uncorked FJ 4 banger, but my KZ1300 6 cyl sounds S W E E T uncorked..

Two days ago I saw a black girl on one of those, complete with skull cap and strutted rear suspension (on the bike, not like the 'crack picture). Hadn't seen one like it on the street in years. We gave each other 'the nod'. Pretty cool.

I uncorked that baby and took it for a short run! Does anyone make a straight pipe for the FJR? I love the sound, and Man does it redline fast, I was like WTF I looked at the speedo and I was doing close to 100 just out of 2nd gear.

I used to have a KZ650 with Kerker Headers, this reminded me of way back then!!

Welp, I put the cans back on! sounds like a sissy bike now j/k, well maybe not all kidding, I love the sound, hey Blueflame owners, is the sound close to the same if you uncork the flamers? :dribble:

wonder if it hurts the bike running it like that?

have the blueflames empty and its really not that loud at all .... like i said rode the 1975 z1 900 open vance and hines comp. pipe for many years .

Zork, ya know anyone that makes a can for the FJR that ya can open all they way for that natural power-blast sound? I had a 82 (think it was 82?) KZ650 with an Open header loved the sound I want that sound back!!!!

Well, I don't know much about aftermarket slip-ons or exhaust, but interestingly, my Dale Walker Holeshots go straight through. Of course, there is baffling surrounding that path, which is what I guess muffles the sound, but I was surprised of the straight shot through the can.

Skooter, how do you like the sound of the Holeshots? I wonder how they compair to the Blueflame?

I know allot of you have studied all the pips there are for the FJR, in all your shopping and comparing, has anyone found a pipe that you can completely remove the insides so you can run it wide open? then add it back in if you want to?

I love the way it runs with the pipes off but it blows right on my boot

I may have to have them customer built :angry:
