First on the list is finish Carver's pile of stuff that seems to get bigger than smaller.

After that I just want to be able to wear out the bikes I have seeing this country. The FJR only has 114k on it and the Wing is a baby with 30k so there are lots of miles in the bank. Don't have any urge to go to other countries until I've seen all of this one. Age, spinal damage and arthritus are the limiting issues along with money of course but I intend to ride until I can't walk and then figure out what's next.

It's getting ready to snow so the only thing I'll be riding this weekend it the tractor

I'd like to visit a few places in Europe. In the big scheme of things, it's not been so awful.

I've backpacked along the beaches, gone up-and-over a volcano; camping beside the lake inside the volcanic cone, then went through a cavern with nothing more than the guide, some friends, and The Tin Man's hat filled with water and a stone that was then lit on fire... on a little island called Cheju (Jeju) Do.

I've spent the darkest of nights in the swamps of Louisiana, the deserts of NV, and slept under the stars many places across the world.

I've sailed, skied on water and snow, swam in oceans, lakes, and rivers and boated across many a body of water.

I've ridden motorcycles through blazing heat and blistering cold; in the pitch of night and the into the blinding sun as it sets and rises.

I've huddled against the winter cold; hugged raging camp fires, diesel tent/barracks heaters, and hot engines.

I've built and destroyed structures.

I've teased and been teased.

I've had adult beverages and smoked fine cigars with friends who remain and those who have passed on.

I've held my newborn children and their newborn children in my arms and been thankful for their health.

Those children are the only true wealth of this life. Enjoy them fully.

Sir, well written. I believe that this is the true wealth of our lives and those among lucky enough to share understand.

I have been working down my 'bucket list' for the past 10 years. There are still plenty of things I'd like to do, or more specifically places I'd like to visit, but few are important or high priority. I decided that I would no longer plan to do something 'some day' but instead, once I know what I want to do, I start putting it in motion and making plans to get it done.

I generally only have one or two things on the list and after I cross one off I add another.

On my list now: I want to visit Europe to see the architecture and art. I'd like to hoist a few in a rustic Irish pub and see the Scottish highlands.

Just do it !

I'm trying to do my Bucket List now but my Crohn's disease is getting the better of me.

3 operations in 8 days, 18 months ago, still recovering, another BIG one down the track, some horrible procedures to happen in January.

But I can ride 600 kms a day now !

As they say.

Live each day as if it were your last, because one day it will come true.

I want to ride my FJR (or whatever my touring bike is then) to my granddaughter's High School graduation party.....she is going to be 2 next month.

Steve, that really put it in prospective, I don't have a big bucket list really. I'm 62 and don't have a grandchild yet but hopefully I'll hold one or two before I pass as my son got married this past summer.

I do have dreams but I'll be happy with what the Lord gives me, I've meet a few good riders in my time and would like to meet a few more. I've made my choices and will be happy to live with them.

If the lord's willing and the creek don't rise, I'd like to find a Rob North frame and a aluminum tank for the Trident and turn it into a Slippery Sam Jr. just to do one more build before my time ends.

I have great PNW FJR friends who accept me for who I am, what more could I ask?

From the Crash Test Dummies with quotes " "

I'm still young, but I know my days are numbered

1234567 and so on

But a time will come when these numbers have all ended

And all I've ever seen will be forgotten

[CHORUS]

Won't you come

To my funeral when my days are done

Life's not long

And so I hope when I am finally dead and gone

That you'll gather round when I am lowered into the ground

When my coffin is sealed and I'm safely 6 feet under

Perhaps my friends will see fit then to judge me

Oh when they pause to consider all my blunders

I hope they won't be too quick to begrudge me

If I should die before I wake up

I pray that the Lord my soul will take but

My body, my body - that's your job

I can't be sure where I'm headed after death

To heaven, hell, or beyond to that Great Vast

But if I can I would like to meet my Maker

There's one or two things I'd sure like to ask

I want to see things, for the first time and for the umpteenth time. I want to meet people and see friends again. There is a whole world out there to experience and the warmth of a home fire to enjoy. Mostly, I want to reflect on a full life. No stone unturned.

Wow Don.

I have met some of the nicest people since I took up long distance riding on my FJR. I have ridden around north America ...twice! with my friends. Been to the 48 US states and 9 Canadian provinces and 2 Mexican states. 175000 kms on my 03. I'm with Petey on some of your lists. I've done a lot of the stuff some of you wish to do. I am soooo fortunate. So when I really thought about it this is what came to mind.

I retired once and now work part time to pay for my bike trips, kayak trips, snow mobile trips and whatever other trip comes up, and wait patiently for my wife to retire.

My health is still pretty good. I survived 1 heart attack. Fixed up with heart surgery. I'm type 2 diabetic. My own fault. My high school sweetheart is my wife of 29 years. I have 4 college educated kids. So what do I want? I'm ready to be a grandfather . My kids are not co-operating though.

Really though... every morning I wake up and put my feet down I'm happy. I have no regrets. I scuba dive but haven't went sky diving... yet. On my list is to ride Australia and Europe . oh and meet more FJR peeps.

My mom thinks I'm nuts for living close to the edge. My response to her is " We only get one run at life mom. It's not a dress rehearsal !!"

Carpe Diem

Well.... I guess I'm on Geezer's side of the fence on this one. My original Bucket list was all checked off long ago. When I was a young man I set my sights on all sorts of waaaay far out there stuff. Picking my profession at age 5 and making it happen, Done. Seeing as much of the world as I wanted to, Done. Saw one too many Top Gun movies and couldn't wait to join the Navy to see what that was like in real life, Done. Because of my profession, all the traveling has been for free except for 10 days in London and 10 days in Paris on my honeymoon that was on my dime although, having a Kazillion frequent flyer points made the airfare $0.00.

I've snorkeled while sailing catamarans over the Great Barrier Reefs off the coast of Australia. I've walked right up to all sorts of unbelievable animals on the Galápagos Islands off the coast of Ecuador that have absolutely no fear of humans. I've slept on the cloth that served as the cats bed on a dirt floor in Mombasa, Kenya. The cat was not happy about that by the way! Been to just about every country in South Amarica. I've had the pleasure of being in the company of some of the most wonderful women in the world. It doesn't matter what country they're from, What language they speak, some didn't even speak English. They are all the same. Some are just a little more quirkier than others. I loved them all.

Bottom line is that I feel I've done and seen everything I wanted. Like Geezer, there are things that I put on the list every now and then but, I usually get those checked off almost right away. The one thing I really want to do that I haven't had the time or the opportunity to do yet is a 6-9 month bike ride around the country. I'm thinking I'd better get that checked off the list before I can't for some reason or another. I want to take my time, smell the roses and have a beer or two with a lot of people I consider my friends on the Forum.

I think that's doable in the near future. I'm day dreaming about it every day now. There's your sign that it's getting close to happening. :)

My list isn't very long. I have had a lot of friends and hope to make a lot more. I live a pretty good life enjoying the Pacific North Wet in Summer and the fantastic Palm Springs weather in the Winter. My list consists of making it to 80 and then making it to 90. Hopefully on two or three wheels.
