Success! Picked up my new CCT today. Before removing the old one, I placed an appropriate socket to keep the tension on the crank cover and carefully retracted the plunger. Removed the old CCT and installed the new. Heart raced a little, wondering if everything was going to work but turned the key, pressed the electric start and vroom, it started right up! I let it warm up until two bars, idled dead steady and just purred. Gave it some throttle and sounds solid.
Thank you everyone for your well wishes and wisdom! I'd especially like to thank HaulinAsh, Constant Mesh, FJRBluesman, Geezer, Peter Murray, Fred W., Warchild, RadioHowie, S76, Patriot, Ignacio, Charismaticmegafauna, Zorloc, Donal and last by not least, 3 dogs (sorry if I missed anyone). I came into this task apprehensive but all your input, suggestions, guidance, and advice gave me the confidence and knowledge to correct my mistake.
Sincerely,
Duke
