I have found that whilst riding in the winter with the windshield fully extended and encountering stiff head winds; the consumption of beer and bratwurst will produce a good quantity of methane gas that once expelled, offsets the head wind and fully extended wind shield; thereby giving a null drag vector, allowing my FJR to achieve 42 farts per mile. :drinks:
You must originally be from Wisconsin...

36 is about average for me in the winter. Goes up a couple to about 38 in the summer. I think the "mixed" riding hurts a lot more on the Gen2s. My 05 was geared lower and didn't seem to mind the local stuff. My 08 sure likes to stretch its legs though!

With winter gas and the vstream shield up high, I get 36 to 38 in the winter. Half my 25 mile commute is highway, but there's lots of stops otherwise. I do notice that leaving every stop light, the cars seem like they're standing still while I accelerate "briskly". I'm guessing that my "brisk" acceleration might have something to do with the lower mileage? <_<

I've also noticed that my bikes computer is optimistic. The mileage reading is 1 to 2 mpg high on the computer compared to my actual calculations.
