Go to Las Vegas, Then ride around lake Mead, The Hoover dam, ect.

Come back, Gamble, Win enough money to pay for the trip! :yahoo:

Find out exactly where TWN is, then go the other way.
Word. I hate sharing 'my' roads. :bleh:

Dog, tough time of year in the west, but if you can make the Pac Coast, I'd say that'd be your best bet. Let us know so we can hook up.

Leave the trailer in St. George or Mesquite and hit Death Valley. It's very nice down there this time of year :D And, the approaches aren't bad either :superman:

I am def thinking bout the Pac Coast. Gotta daughter in Monterey. Was thinking bout hwy 1. The big thing is when. I will not last much longer. 2 hours shoveling snow last night. Yuk. My FJR was whimpering all day. She is at the warehouse (my work) so I could hear her too. It was a sad day indeed. I have moved her away fromany windows so she cannot see the snow

I know the feeling. I lived there for 7 years. It's always good to get out of SLC and head south. Me, I would head to Vegas, then ride to laughlin and points southwest. But, that's me! :)

If you're going to do Highway 1, try to avoid the annual landslides or the storms that cause them. 'Course if there's a storm you could just hole up in Monterey - I could think of a lot worse things to do.

If you choose Monterrey, look on the map for a road called G16. It goes inland from Monterrey to the 101. LOTS of twisties and some pretty cool views. Last time we were there, the coastal end of the road was in better shape than the inland end, but it was all ride-able.

The sooner you do it the better. It's been pretty mild so far on the coast but as the rainy season heats up and the ground gets saturated the mud slides and flooding start to happen. The weather forecast is generally accurate for no more than 3-4 days this time of year, more than that it's a crap shoot and you definately don't want to ride in gale force winds with sheets of rain. As has been said, there are worse places to wait out a storm than Monterey.

On a side note if you're a wine drinker stop at Trader Joe's and grab a case or three of 2003 Charles Shaw Cabernet. $2/bottle and you won't beat it for under $20 in Utah. I can hook you up in Sacramento. :good:
