So it was the longest day of the year Saturday, what else is there to do but take advantage of all the extra dayight. I called up a couple friends and propsed riding the "Alaska Loop". Its just ubder 800 miles and you make a (obvious here) large loop through Alaska. I turned left from my driveway headed south towards Anchorage on the the Richardson Highway down to GlennAllen HWY to the Parks HWY heading north back to Fairbanks. Below are some pics I took using my mounted pillon cam.
Some how I was elected to lead, this is a pic of my faithful followers all HOG's, yes the sporty one too ita a Buell 943 something or other
the tail end of a large army convoy
Just before we got ready to take off they sent out Pilot car they knew my pillon was getting tired 400 miles in and she needed a recharge, right after the pilot car left she got that recharge when I pointed out a signe that read caution next 25 miles sharp turns woke her right up 25 miles of 35-45 mph rated switchbacks going well a little faster than the posted speed limit. when we came out the end we stopped in a town called Chickaloon and grabbed a Red Bull and waited for the Harley's.....
Tired pillon in full effect couldnt muster the energy to pull off her lid...
All in All it was a great ride 11 hours in the saddle one 48 humvee/tank long convoy passed and even though Tiff got tired she never complained and was game to snap photos and take care of the waving detail the entire ride. We decided after the ride that we need (want) quite a few farkles for the Feejer, that we thought we could do with out that now we now realize we cant live w/o.
I went out solo the next day for a short 100 mile trip to let loose hardcore and ended up getting caught in a ginormous storm, first time I ever rode in Hail, not so fun. It wasnt that fun finding out how unwaterproof my new waterproof pants are.
