Just looked thru the March issue of Road Bike magazine,(on the rack while the wife shopped naturally) there was a brief article on the Tenere, what caught my eye was the list of factory accessories, a guy can go easily two grand in debt and then sum for this stuff. The killer comment at the end of the list was to order the goodies with the bike so the prices would be locked in! Did you copy escapefjrtist.

At the Toronto Bike Show I thought the factory skidplate looked a little flimsy to me. I would check to see if there are some aftermarket skidplates that are somewhat more robust if your planning to do any serious exploring.

I like almost none of the OEM farkles. I do like the headlight cover but for the price I can get just as good about half the price. I will get the wind deflectors from Mama Yama I think but not much else. The aftermarket will likely beat all of their stuff and for less $$$$ methinks.

Yep, I copy *W*.

Still sitting on the fence, down to less than two months though... ;)

I gotta agree with prior comments. The factory goodies are expensive, and for the same or less $$$ I'm pretty sure you can get better built and more substantial crash bars, skid plates, bags, etc...Time will tell.

You are coming to Adventure Thursday, right? Free drinks and grub, can't miss it!

Hola Jorge and Dr. J: You're both correct, the Yamaha Factory goodies are ridiculously expensive and appear to be very cheaply made; I don't plan on buying a single after purchase item for my Super Tenere from Yamaha. I'm looking at AltRider for my guards and bars and to Al Jesse for my aluminum panniers and top box. Larger windshield will be CeeBailey's! Seat will be from Sargent!

Don, I imagine Al Jesse will only have to come up with a suitable mounting set up to use the Xplorer bags. I haven't heard if they are working on one though. Do you have inside info about that? I have access to an older set of cases with the older set up from a V Strom I had (one of my sons has them but not using them). I'd have to change the connecting hardware , but if that isn't possible I'd go with Jesse's new stuff or the Trax stuff, which I like a lot (they come with a dry bag liner too free).

doctorj, Al and Julie Jesse are close personal friends of mine and both are fellow BMW MOA #89 AZ Beemers Members, my Girlfriend Donna and I party with them at the Annual AZB Club Christmas Party. Al got his hands on a Super Tenere somewhere and brought it to his shop in Glendale, Arizona. Yes, he is working on a suitable mounting set up to use the Xplorer bags and Papa Chuy is in line for a set!

[email protected] This is the e-mail address I have in my AOL Address book, you may post Al and see if you can use your Son's older cases on your new Super Tenere; it would save you some money!

https://www.jesseluggage.com/ doctorj, here is the phone number I have for Al in my personal address book: 623-931-3272. If you call Al and he wonders how you got that number, since it is not on his website, just tell him Senile Stanley gave it to you!
